Fort King George State Historic Site Leashed dogs are allowed on the grounds of Fort King George State Historic Site, a pet-friendly site in Darien, GA. This is the oldest remaining English fort in Georgia. While Fido isn't allowed inside the historic buildings, you can both enjoy the lovely trails around the area. See Details
Crooked River State Park Located on southern tip of Georgia's Colonial Coast in St. Mary's, dog-friendly Crooked River State Park is the perfect spot for enjoying the intracoastal waterway and maritime forest. Campsites are surrounded by palmettos and Spanish moss-draped oaks, while cottages are set near the tidal river. A boat ramp is popular with anglers who often take to the water before sunrise. Just down the road is the ferry to famous Cumberland Island National Seashore known for secluded beaches and wild horses. The park's nature trail winds through forest and salt marsh, and hikers may see gopher tortoises, fiddler crabs, herons and other birds. Dogs are allowed on all trails, but must be kept on a 6-ft max leash. Dogs are not permitted in or around historic sites, lodges, group camps, or swimming areas. See Details
Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation Dogs on leashes under six feet are welcome at pet-friendly Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation in Brunswick, GA. This former rice plantation is home to nature trails and a section of Georgia's Colonial Coast Birding Trail where you can spot over 300 different species of bird. Fido is welcome to join you on both of these, but isn't permitted inside any of the historic buildings at the state park. See Details
Georgia Coast Rail-Trail The Georgia Coast Rail-Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Woodbine! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Georgia Coast Rail-Trail.
