The trail starts off HWY 38 about .2 miles west of Stanfield Cutoff and is well marked and has plenty of parking at the trailhead. Leashed dogs are allowed. Black Mountain Trail Black Mountain Trail is a difficult, 6.9 mile hike in San Bernardino National Forest that will take about 4 hours to complete with Fido. This beautiful, dog-friendly hike in Banning, CA, will have you thinking you are in the Sierra Nevada with its granite boulders, large pines, open vistas, and beautiful views. Although you will need an Adventure Pass for parking, no permit is required to use the trail. Dogs must be leashed at all times. See Details

Sugarloaf Mountain Trail Sugarloaf Mountain Trail is a difficult 11.6-mile hike in Big Bear, CA. This dog-friendly trail is located within the San Bernardino National Forest. There's no need for a permit when hiking this peak, the highest outside of the National Forest. The trail will take you on a very rocky path through the alpine forest. Be sure to bring plenty of water and check Fido's paws frequently. This area is subject to seasonal closure due to weather conditions. This trail is located within the San Bernardino National Forest and will take about 9.5 hours to complete with Fido. Many hikers use this as training for Mount Whitney. Within the half mile after crossing Mill Creek, you will gain 1000 feet in elevation as you switchback into the San Gorgonio Wilderness. See Details

This hike is known to be a very difficult, 11-mile hike in San Bernardino National Forest that will take about 6.5 hours to complete with Fido. This trail is easily accessible and has a large parking lot. The creek flows heavy in spring and early summer, but dries later in the year. Shields Peak Trail Shields Peak Trail is a dog-friendly hike in Angelus Oaks, CA. This trail is known to be extremely difficult, 12.2-mile hike in San Bernardino National Forest that will take about 7.5 hours to complete with Fido. Heading into the San Gorgonio Wilderness and getting to the San Bernardino Divide is difficult on any trail. Even the most conditioned dogs will struggle on this trail.
