Dog Friendly Hiking Trails in Norton Shores, MI

P.J. Hoffmaster State Park is a pet-friendly recreation area just south of Muskegon in Norton Shores, MI. The park is situated on 3 miles of stunning shoreline and features towering dunes and 10 miles of scenic trails for hiking and cross-country skiing with your leashed furry friend. During your visit, dogs are not allowed in buildings or swimming areas.

Kirk Park is a pet-friendly attraction in Grand Haven, MI. The area offers nature trails with wooden stairways that wind through the dunes, offering spectacular views of Lake Michigan. In winter, they allow cross-country skiing, but please note the trails aren't groomed. Kirk Park also offers a dog-friendly beach, but have specific hours when Fido is allowed.

Leashed dogs are welcome. They are not permitted in buildings, restrooms, or picnic shelters. Over six miles of trails meander through bottomland and upland forest, old pine plantations and along the river. Trails connect to Pine Bend County Park on the west end of this property. A pedestrian bridge and numerous overlooks offer scenic views. March 1 through October 15: 7am to 10pm; October 16 through February 28: 7am to 8pm.

While it’s a great place for a brisk walk, there are plenty of grassy knolls and benches for idlers who prefer people and boat watching.

Duck Lake State Park is a pet-friendly attraction in Whitehall, MI. The park features a towering sand dune and stretches from the northern shore of Duck Lake to Lake Michigan. Fishing, hiking, swimming and picnicking are just some activities in this beautiful area. Dogs aren't permitted in buildings or swimming areas.

The dog-friendly William Field Memorial Hart-Montague Trail State Park in Montague, MI, is a paved, 22-mile path that passes through rural, forested lands and is a beautiful way to see Michigan's backcountry. The former railroad is a must-visit if you're in the area with Fido's sidecar on your bicycle or on foot. Remember to keep your pup leashed and clean up any mess left behind.

Pigeon Creek Park is a pet-friendly spot in West Olive, MI. Leashed dogs are welcome on the hiking trails in spring, summer and fall.
