1. Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort

Christmas in the desert may not be the first thing you think of when you picture the holidays. However, once you visit the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort with your dog, you’ll never forget the experience. The hotel sparkles with more than 4 million LED twinkle lights in palm trees and a four-story Christmas tree with light shows set to carols and songs. #ChristmasatthePrincess also goes all out with an ice-skating rink, Build-a-Bear Workshop, nightly Menorah lightings, photos at Santa’s Secret Workshop, and S’mores Land, complete with a carousel, Ferris wheel, and campfire for roasting marshmallows. Enjoy holiday dining specials on the patio with your pup at the on-site restaurants, La Hacienda and Ironwood American Kitchen. Located in one of San Francisco’s most iconic downtown plazas and holiday shopping areas, the pet-friendly Westin St. Francis Union Square overlooks the Safeway Holiday Ice Rink and Christmas tree. In the hotel lobby, a 12-foot Sugar Castle is on display and a Sweet Boutique is stocked with delicious holiday treats for sale. Families will want to book a room on The Holiday Hideaway floor. This pet-friendly resort on a working cattle ranch in Montana is a ruggedly luxurious retreat. The Resort at Paws Up celebrates the holidays with classic festive style during the month of December with A Montana Christmas. Families can stay in a private lodge outfitted with a custom-decorated Christmas tree. Fido will get a personal welcome note from the owner’s dog, Coco, along with a doggy bed, bowls, a tennis ball and treats. All meals, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are also included. On Christmas Eve, chow down on a yuletide dinner prepared by Executive Chef Sunny Jin and get a personal visit to your lodge from Santa. With its stunning location at an elevation of 5,288 feet next to Yosemite National Park’s South Gate, Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite provides a breathtaking setting for your holiday merriment. You and your dog can admire the 35-foot sustainably harvested fir tree in the lobby and can snowshoe in an evergreen forest outside. The dog-friendly resort hosts daily public Menorah lightings and has a 30-foot Christmas tree which is lit each year at a ceremony with holiday cookies, festive beverages and, of course, a visit from the big fellow in a red suit. Located in Banff National Park and known as “Canada’s Castle in the Rockies,” the Fairmont Banff Springs is filled with holiday spirit during Christmas at the Castle. Daily holiday activities are offered throughout the month of December, including Letters to Santa, Snowflake Scavenger Hunts, ice skating at the on-site rink, and sleigh rides.
