Weight Restrictions?

My Bichon Frise and his crate weigh 20 pounds and 12 oz. How strick are airlines like American Airlines? Will they reject my dog for 12 oz.?

How did your flight go? I want to take my Jack Russell with me over Christmas but I am worried! I'm also flying American but the bag with the dog is 19lbs.
