Fly with Emotional Therapy Dog

Hi,
I'd like to know what is requested, more importantly for Delta Airlines, to take my dog, a (rather big) Jack Russell (26 pounds) in coach with me as an emotional therapy dog.
Thanks !

Flying with Emotional Support Dog

I recently checked into this. the requirements for most airlines is quite strict. The require a letter from a psychiatrist, psychologist, or a mental health therapist (can't even be just a regular physician!) that states that you require a pet to be with you because you have a mental health diagnosis that is defined specifically in some catalogue of legitimate mental health issues. I forget the exact name of this catalogue. but you can probably find it on a google search.
Also, you must check in at least 2 hours in advance, to give them sufficient time to call your mental health specialist and confirm that you are indeed under their care and the doctor specifically prescribed a "comfort dog."
Since I did not want to jeopardize my ability to own firearms in any way, I did not pursue this option...because anyting that has your name linked to a diagnosis that in any way impugns your mental health, could come back and bite you in unintended ways. So I have resigned myself to paying the exorbitant prices to have my Yorkie accompany me as what amounts to a piece of checked baggage...

The real story!

I raise/train Service dogs as a volunteer for Canine Companions for Independence. The ADA Federal regulations are for dogs that perform tasks, not emotional therapy. All dogs do that! Please don't go buying vests online and trying to fake it. CCI works very hard to give well behaved trained service animals to those who truly need their assistance, other organizations like Guide dogs for the blind as well and all these "support dogs, fake service dogs" make it very hard to train and work legitimate dogs. I can't take my released dog on a plane and he has flown with me as a puppy in training 4 times and knows how to behave. If you have a small dog pay the money to carry it on. Please people don't try to take a non qualified pet on public transportation, restaurants and stores. PLEASE!
