Hotel charged us and we did not stay

We booked this hotel while traveling. Accidentally booked twice and called to cancel one. Showed up there and they said they had cancelled both. It was a dump. Would not let my dog stay there, so I definitely wasn't staying. It seemed very nasty and unsafe. I decided to go on further since they had cancelled both my reservations. Guess what, my credit card was charged for both reservations. I contested with my credit card company and this nasty motel had the nerve to send them the policy of no cancellations after telling me they had cancelled my reservations.
