We were canceled!

After driving 7 hours, as we entered the lobby, we were told our reservation was canceled due to overbooking. My phone was ringing at 5pm as we were unloading our suitcases and the dog. When we entered the lobby, my husband asked the attendant, "How are you?" She snapped, "BUSY" as she proceeded to tell us our reservation was canceled. Why did she wait until 5pm to call me? Why was the parking lot mostly empty if they were full? As we were leaving she yells to us "I got the brunt of it all". No, you didn't lady. We did after driving 7 hours and having our fully paid reservation canceled.
