Clean cottages !

Cottages on River Road

Our family and pooch needed a short get away and this place was easy to book and find. Staff was cordial. nothing special. Price quoted didn’t include taxes or 35.00 pet fee. Rooms were clean. hard floored - ours had two tiny bedrooms and a sofa/chair/tv in main room . kids were disappointed no WIFI and no fire pit but loved the warm muffins in the morning. plenty of places to get Covid safe take out.

Good Choice!

The Bard's Inn BW Signature Collection by Best Western

Dog friendly motel type set up ( outside entrance) which made it easy to take our dog out to the nice grassy field on the hill next to the building we were in. Short walk to restaurants. My husband thought the TV was tiny and outdated- hard to use. Room was nice, decent size, nice bathroom . Heating on this cold night was not able to be controlled- the fan was loud and too hot so we turned it off completely. Breakfast would have been nice but it stops at 9:00 or 9:30 and we mistakenly assumed 10:00 like most places.

A Bit Dissapointed!

The Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown

After reading such great reviews we were a bit disappointed. The night we arrived the valet guy was very quiet and mediocre. Didn’t acknowledge our kids or the dog, nobody mentioned a welcome basket or dog bed. This was our first time traveling with a dog and it was a bit daunting to be very much downtown - loud city noises etc, lots of homeless in the area. We asked about where to take him out to relieve himself and the closest patch of grass was many blocks away- no fun on a cold night.
The room was great and spacious, fun decor. Having to go down stairs to get tea or coffee was a drag in the mornkng and we missed both the coffee and the 5pm happy hour our first day there since nobody told us the narrow window of time it is offered .
The worst was at the end when we got the bill with close to a hundred more racked on for extra fees and taxes which they did not tell us when we booked directly on the phone. Don’t forget it costs $42 a day to park in their garage which we happily paid since we had to leave our dog in the car while we went out to eat .
Most of the staff was friendly but not all of them ! We did find a dog park to drive to. Next time I would not stay down town. This hotel is overpriced

Highly Recommend !

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Eugene

We are a family of four plus our dog and this was our first time traveling with dog. This La Quinta worked great for us and twice during the trip we’re able to make last minute reservations. What stood out was the friendly staff and the amazing off leash fenced in dog park ( “ Aston Baker” huge) within a 15-20 minute walk from hotel, plus a decent grassy area right outside the hotel. Clean room, good breakfast. Indoor pool but hot tub out of order. The staff are even kindly sending us a beloved stuffed animal my daughter accidentally left in the room ( buried in the sheets)
