Kind of beat up but it did the trick

Passport Inn & Suites

We needed a place to stay in Corona, close to the home of a family member when we were in town for a memorial. There weren't many places that allowed three dogs, and we got a good price, and the rooms had king beds, so we booked.

The pros, they gave us a ground floor room, and the AC did a good job in the 108-degree heat. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, given that it was a metal-frame with springs and not a box spring. The desk clerks were polite and prompt. The room also had a fridge and microwave and television with some choice of channels. We found a nice breakfast place that did take out down the street (Goodfellas Cafe). Another plus with dogs was that the rooms open directly to the outside, so no long indoor corridors to navigate past other guests to get dogs outside to potty.

However, it definitely felt battered and worn around the edges. The room was clean, but there was some mold in the bathroom tiles, the bathroom fan didn't work, the toilet took some effort to flush, and the furniture was at the end of its wear cycle and definitely looked like the chain owners had repurposed it from other hotels that were being renovated--it was pretty beat up. There was no pool (evidence that one had been filled in some time ago), and they charged for the ice machine (this is not something I've ever seen, even at Motel six).

Its grounds were mostly parking lot and very utilitarian, but it did have a grassy area to walk the dogs. We always were able to find a parking spot, though the lot was nearly full the night we got in. The neighborhood wasn't exactly picturesque, but we felt safe enough. There was a gas station and fast food joints nearby as well.

It was fine for a short stay, since we were really only there to sleep. If you are looking for a place to hang out more during a real vacation, I'd suggest a more upscale place, but it got the job done for what we needed.
