Great stay minus some staff issues...

Residence Inn by Marriott New Orleans Metairie

I don't like to start with the negative but in this case I should. It has become sadly apparent how openly certain people feel they can behave as a racist without backlash in these days. I thought we were trying to move passed this sort of thing but it is an ugly personality flaw that shines in all the wrong ways. Before the assumptions are made that the staff I am referring to are white, let me make this clear. They were absolutely not white. Getting breakfast the ladies restocking the food as it ran low were openly and loudly making passive aggressive statements about "piles of these people keep coming in" when families not matching their complexion would arrive to have breakfast but not at all when the people matched. The ladies would walk around the tables straightening up and checking on only one race of people with a smile while, at best, showing indifference to anyone else. I watched several families leave without breakfast over this uncomfortable atmosphere. Hate is hate no matter what direction it flows and it doesn't belong in the service industry or anywhere else for that matter.
That being said, everything else was great. The room was clean, everything was ready for us the way we needed, and breakfast tasted great with lots of options. I do give credit where it's due. Even the ladies making the inappropriate comments and gestures did a great job keeping the food stocked and the tables/ counters clean.
