Worked for my needs

Forest Lodge Motel

Happy Camp is a tiny town with a population of less than 1000 people in the middle of the woods. Don't expect fancy accommodations from a inexpensive motel here. The beds were clean but the room itself showed signs of damage from dogs (scratched door, stained carpet). The host was super nice though!

Very nice owner and wonderful location

Surf Inn

Small, locally owned business. Arrived after hours (the office closes at 6pm) and had to pick up my key with my name on it from the mail box in front of the office. Luckily the owner called me just before closing to make sure I was aware of how to check myself in after hours.

The rooms are small and cozy. It has the standard TV, air conditioning, microwave, mini fridge, coffee machine, and shower essentials in the bathroom. Bonus was the gas fireplace in my room! But I came in summer so I didn't get to use it. The room was very small (in the single bed suite). Just enough space for two people and a 50 pound dog to be comfortable, so keep that in mind. If you let the office know you are bringing a dog they will leave treats in the room for you when you arrive.

The outdoor area was cute but I didn't use it. Directly next to the fire pits was a trail called the Coastal Bluff Trail(?) that is great if you love hiking. 7 mile trail right outside your room. As of writing this review they don't serve continental breakfast anymore but there is a grocery store one building over from the Inn and another one across the street, as well as a bakery.
