Not very pet friendly

Full Disclaimer: We rented this location through their listing on Bookings.com. Shame on us for not checking here first. We ONLY booked this location because their listing on Bookings did not specify that only one dog was allowed. We looked it up and down. We had our friends check it too. Only after we made our reservation did we receive the fine print that stated the one-dog policy.

We immediately contacted Bookings and Vacasa (the property management company), and tried to see if we would be able to bring extra dogs for a fee. The answer was no, which we could have understood except that backing out of the reservation would mean forking over half the fee. To be clear, we realized the problem within 24 hours of making the reservation, and we were a month out from the date of our trip. We were given a bait and switch. DO NOT STAY HERE WITH YOUR PETS!

Once there, it's VERY bare bones for the cost. We had 4 guests, but not enough towels or wash cloths for all 4. In fact, we had one washcloth for 4 adults. That's gross and weird. There was no mention in the listing that we would need to bring extra trash bags, salt and pepper, oil, tupperware, etc. We had to play a fun game of "which remote needs the battery" since you also only got one battery for the two tv remotes (one that was hidden under the pull out sofa, so you know that bed wasn't cleaned or checked between visits) and the ceiling fan in the living room.

In addition, checkout is a whole hour earlier than pretty much everywhere, and check-in is about an hour later. All in all, would not stay again. In fact, we're hoping to complain about the refund policy to the city. Definitely don't stay. The owners are hoping to rip you off.

Simply Incredible

Let me start by saying if you like traveling with your dog, this is the place for you. The owners dog is likely the only staff member you’ll meet, and he is a distinguished gentleman who likes a good couple pets, and then lets you settle in. The rooms are super clean, spacious, and comfortable. Each also has a show stopping view. You’re pretty spread out there too so you won’t feel like you’re right on top of other guests. The Cantina is better than we expected. It’s enormous, which makes sharing the space to cook with other guests super easy.

All the gear you could need to make a great meal is there too. The coffee is plentiful, and there are some great, basic breakfast options. The views will make you consider just staying on the ranch the whole time. And you really could by the looks of things from all the off road trails and mountains and rock formations right on site. The showers are hot and water pressure is great after a day hiking in the parks. Terlingua is a quick 20 min away if you want to explore town too. I can’t stop raving about the place. The owners and staff put a lot of effort into making it incredible, and I’m so glad to have found it. We’ll be back for sure
