Dog friendly but not a "resort"

Booked here because we were looking to enjoy New Years with the dog. Chose this location over other dog-friendly hotels because of amenities and location. Booked "Premium" king ocean view. For the cost + resort fees, it is not something we'd do again. The room was filthy; walls were dirty with stains and bad paint jobs, fridge was broken, 2/3 beach access points were closed, heated pool and hot tub were closed. Housekeeping never came to refresh the room and it was an epic quest just to locate more towels, and toilet ran and sounded like a SpaceX launch throughout the night. Easy to be there with the dog, but to pay resort fees plus at least $200 a night for motel accommodations, it would be worth checking out the location across the street until they update things.
