Tiny
Crescent Park Dog RunThis is the smallest dog park we've been to. There is only one fenced in area, and there is no double gate to stop eager dogs from escaping. It's about half grass and half dirt, with a few trees and bushes.
Wide open field
Brown Memorial Dog ParkThis is a nice wide open field with plenty of room to run and a well thought out water hose on a concrete pad with a floor drain that can be used to hose down a muddy dog. The place was deserted while we were there, but it was raining, and had been for several days. Because of the rain, it was quite soggy. I'm sure that once it dries up, it'd be a nice open field.
A pleasant walk
East BeachWe parked in a residential area with free public parking and a boardwalk to the beach. The beach was wide, with hardpack sand and plenty of seashells. We walked a couple miles and encountered a couple other dogs.
Massive
Catherine B. Stillman Dog ParkThere's a few acres of fenced in area to run. I can't throw a tennis ball from one fence to the other. The downside to a place this large is that it takes diligence to make sure that you pick up after your pet. While we were there, the gate between the small and large dog areas was open, making the whole run even bigger. Admittedly there is a not insignificant gap under the fence of the small dog park.
Also, there are outdoor kennels at the vet clinic next door, so you will be barked at by those dogs. This isn't really a detriment, just a curiosity.
Great park
Gulf State ParkThis was a little gem on our trip. Clean and well kept. Bring a towel if your dog likes the water. It'd been raining for a few days, so some of the park was a bit muddy, but wholly pleasant.
Not the greatest
Fort Morgan Historic Site Bayside BeachThis is a fee area. It'll cost you $5 in an honor system drop box to get to about 600 yards of beach where they allow dogs between the pier and the old warf. For this fee, you get the privilege of walking along a debris strewn beach about 30 feet wide with it's fair share of fish carcasses. No bags provided. It does have decent sunsets, though.
We never got there in time to get into the fort, which closes at 5pm, which is in a separate fee area.
Quiet beach
Carrabelle BeachThe area was still reeling from the impact of Hurricane Michael three months earlier, so there was understandably some wooden debris on the beach. Other than that, it's a nice quiet place to take a walk. Soft sand and calm waters. Bring your own bags, as if there were any supplied before, the hurricane has removed them.
Pretty nice
Dog Park at Freedom Lake ParkPlenty of shade in a relaxing little park. A nice dog wash outside the gate to wash off the dirt or mud. It's a little muddy if it's been raining. Because of the shade, it isn't fully grassy. Not the biggest, but well maintained.
