Great little hideaway
Woodford County Dog ParkWe lived in Versailles for awhile and would frequent the park weekly. It is very well maintained and has cross country running trails that are accessable for on leash walking. There is also a biking path that goes through the park and part of the town that is great to walk or bike with your dog on. There are two decently sized fenced in dog areas with water provided through means of a hose and bowls. There is a picnic table in each side, but not much stimulating activities for dogs in the off leash area. Great place to go for off leash time and for walks. There are also activities for humas at the same place such as tennis courts, a sports complex, and frisbee golf. Not usually too crowded either and for the most part the people are responsible dog owners.
Covered, ventilated "outdoor" seating
West Sixth BrewingThey have a great patio that's well covered and sheltered from the elements that you can bring your dog to, and a bar leading to rhe outside of the building so no need to step foot inside. Smithtown seafood and crank n boom ice cream available to order inside makes for a great evening!
Great Park, smaller than the others
Dog Park at Wellington ParkWe enjoy going to this park, but it's not our favorite. It's smaller than the others we frequest, although still large enough for large dogs to play rough snd get their energy out. My biggest complaint is that in that there is not a water fixture for the dogs inside the larger of the two parks. There is walking trails around which we have yet to visit, but it's a cute park in the middle of the city.
Centrally Located, Large, Stimulating
Masterson Station Dog ParkWe love going to Masterson, lots of space to run, and many new dogs and people to socialize with. Pretty centrally located and easily accessible to Lexington, Georgetown, Frankfort, and Woodford country residents with it being off leestown road near new circle. We often walk on a long leash across the horse cross country course, and plan to bike there with the dog more often. Only concern is make sure you lock your car doors since it is a heavily trafficed area.
Favorite Dog Park
Jacobson Dog ParkThis park is essentially a County Park with frisbee golf, a massive lake for kayaking/fishing/paddleboating/etc, kiddie water park, many pavilions, and activity areas throughout the park. It's a bonus that they have two very large, well maintained, off leash, fenced dog parks. The only downside is the water features have a very low pressure so bringing additional water may be a good idea. We often walk from the park to the creeks and lake for water play time after the dogs get the crazies out.
Must Visit! With or without your pup 🐾
Miguel's PizzaNot only is the Red River Gorge area EXTREMELY dog friendly. This particular resutaunt has a cult following of hikers, rock climbers, and locals for it's great pizza. It's normally very busy, but most of the seating is outside so visit on a nice day. I always come to this restaurant when I visit, especially when I have my pup with me. Also for those who don't know, dogs are not allowed on the hiking trails one the Natural Bridge side, but on the Red River Gorge side they are allowed off leash as long as they are "verbally restrained" I got this information from a park ranger.
