Not Bad

Super 8 by Wyndham Smithfield/Selma

You get what you pay for. When we first walked in, the first floor was overwhelmingly smelly, moldy/musty with an undertone of weed. The elevator and floors were filthy so it did not give a good first impression. We opted for the King bed 'deluxe' room which was on the 2nd floor and overall the room was large and quite nice for this type of place. No major smells upstairs other than your regular run of the mill old hotel smell. Full fridge/freezer, sink, stove, microwave, lots of space. It was clean enough for the one-night stopover on our way home from FL.

I like that they allow all sized dogs since that is our biggest obstacle on the road with a German shorthaired pointer. I do fear what a first-floor standard room would have been like. Plus, kind of annoying to have to take the pup in the elevator to go up/down. She was not a fan. The walls are also super thin. I thought someone was entering our room at 2am but it was someone in the hall in one of the nearby rooms getting in and chatting about but sounded like it was literally in our room.

But that was the only activity we had on the floor overnight thankfully. If it was a busy weekend or a lot of activity, I can't see getting much sleep. So I do think we lucked out in a lot of areas and not sure if it's worth another gamble. In the end, if it was the only option we had, we would stay again but likely will be looking for something different midway for the next trip.
