Lovely place with rolling hills, sunsets, distant lake view, great brews & a good menu. I was unsure how my new rescue dog would fare with the other dogs on the pretty patio but every dog was leashed & had water & responsible owners & he settled down nicely. Great waiter, good food, top knotch place!

Excellent place for travelers with dogs. I have had an excellent experience both times I have been here.

Lovely view & grounds. Quiet & clean inside. Lots of bridge traffic noise outdoors, but pretty birdsong too. Bathroom door was noisy & stuck & needs carpentry desperately. Nice breakfast. Gorgeous location.

Renovations are done now. Pleasant & affordable stay. Good restaurants & services nearby.

The room we reserved was changed & a smaller one substituted, there was mouse poo on the sofa bed when we opened it & a mousetrap under the sofa, but the front desk denied knowing it had a rodent problem. There was a lot of cereal & rubber bands & other stray items under the sofa bed mattress, which was not reversible anyway. There was a used stained & hairy towel in the bathroom. You had to think to ask for sofa bed linens & pillows at the front desk, and it was a sheet short once given by the friendly man at the desk when he finally turned up.
The understaffed place’s elevator smelled of weed, there was no decent parking left & it was a very dark lot. The AC in the bedroom roared like a jet plane to icebox temperature & shut off, & nobody cared much until we left & complained. The manager called the next day to at least remit our pet fee. However, BringFido were heroes & refunded the difference between the reserved room rate & the available (mouse poo) room rate. I could tell you more, or return the manager’s call to tell her what I had already told 2 of her staff or I could go on with my life.
I give 2 bones because the hot water was awesome & Candlewood Suites has nice suite layouts & dishes & I need to think positive. As I told the staff, I am not a “Karen." Nobody, by any name, would find our experience there acceptable. It certainly is not up to the brand’s standards, or anybody else’s. Second worst hotel I have ever stayed at, but at least it did not have fire ants.

Decrepit place with a nice enough bed room. Good AC in room & hall. No dog area except by busy road or back patio. No rear or side trash receptacle. “Suite” was a joke: a raggedy patched dorm sofa, a saggy chair, a stained ottoman, & table chairs w no table. No coffee table. No lamp. Had to pass thru bedroom to get to it—utterly backwards. Sagging new drapes installed incorrectly. Dingy sheers. Good fridge but w frost buildup & in the bedroom not the “suite” room. Same w microwave I did not test. Non-functioning coffee maker, but good lobby coffee. Backwards top sheet with tag at chin. Good hot water. New room carpet, gross stairways. No back door security. Broken rain guard over back door. Party light string at rear but no lights. Overgrown patio so marsh view is wasted. Don’t put dogs near the elevator pinging constantly. Friendly bartender.

Good value for the money. Every hotel needs to do a better job of making sure nothing is left behind by the vacumn, esp under the beds. Here it was just a dog bone so no tragedy. Hotel was friendly & clean & inexpensive & smelled nice. Floors are vinyl so a bit loud but hotel was quiet enough otherwise. I don't know why this hotel does not mow the grass. It looks abandoned outside.

I would give this hotel a 4.5 for the dog traveler as it was very quiet & pleasant & near all sorts of services. The grounds for dogs are pretty nice except for the behavior of the travelers who failed to pick up large morning piles right near the doors & walk areas. The exterior lights could be brighter or come on sooner, imo. It was a rather dark approach. Also, we found some things the vacuum missed under the bed that you have to be careful of with pets & kids—hair elastic, a pill, etc. The carpet in our room was frayed but otherwise the room was clean & quiet. I would stay here again with a dog. If a female travelling alone, I would need better exterior lighting to feel comfortable.

Very clean & friendly hotel, peaceful & very accommodating. The perimeter of the lounge and bar area was perfect for meeting my friends (also happy with the hotel) despite having a dog along. The room is very nice, & cleverly laid out as a suite with everything you need, except a microwave (?). I would give this hotel 5 bones except that the $75 pet fee is ridiculous for a 12 y/o 17 lb dog, on top of a fairly steep room price. Also, be advised that you have to TURN at the first roundabout west of the highway, where there is limited signage & the hotel obscured by foliage. 2 of us drivers rode around for quite awhile before we figured it out. Once you find it, the location is a handy place for friends to converge from other compass points, & the towns around are lovely.

Thank you BringFido for calling this small, spotless place to my attention. As an older woman traveling alone with a dog, I prize cleanliness & safety, & that was not the feeling at other area locations. The back of the hotel is nice, even at night, for walking a pet, & it has morning shade. Breakfast was a modest affair, the usual coffee, fruit, muffins & pancakes but no eggs. The yogurt was of better quality than most places these days though. The fridge in my first floor room pulsed constantly, like a heartbeat but it did not keep me from sleeping well. It had no freezer, but I was able to get ice for my cooler to get me to my next stop. I will stay here again. Nothing fancy, but smelled nice & was nice, & the price was ok.

I came thru a hailstorm in the mountains to get here & was glad to be in sunshine on more level ground! This small hotel had very a small room (one king) that I would have found claustrophobic if I had a partner with me, but it was cozy for just me & a small dog. Though too small for two, there seemed to be an adjoining room option, which is handy for some occasions. Of course pets are leashed but the hotel needs to repair its rear fence as it is close to the highway & a dropped leash could end in tragedy. It is also a matter of appearance.
The location was good for me, but I wish I had gotten food before arriving as there was nothing appealing that a dog owner reliant on takeout could readily access nearby. (Perhaps if you do app delivery you would differ). I could not bear to get back in the car with the dog & scout around. Finally, I make it a practice not to stay in places where toilets have no lid, as that is unsanitary for the air & a problem for curious dogs & is just plain low rent. In a tiny bathroom, with a tiny shelf above the bowl, it also imperils your stuff. So, I am unsure I would stay here again, but having driven up & down the east coast with pets for decades, I can say this is about as good as it gets, realistically.

I would stay here again but I would not recommend it to others. The grounds are green & peaceful but the entire place is run down & worn out. That said, my room was huge & sunny with a new floor & it seemed like an unfussy place for dog lovers & hikers & bicyclists to spend a night, & hard working people to live while they do local construction work. Breakfast was a brown bag with packaged sweet bread, a banana, & bottle of water. Weakest effort ever. However, the coffee was the best I have ever had in a hotel in the USA. The drapes on the windows were disgusting & there is just no excuse for the deterioration & dead flies. Finally, I stayed in the summer at 63 degrees & the bedding was clean & sufficient but in the winter these appointments in this big room would be too spartan.
