Super loud, could not sleep

La Quinta by Wyndham Memphis Wolfchase

A friend and I were transporting 2 dogs from Texas to their new home in North Carolina. This motel was at our halfway point. Upon arrival, I was told there were only king suites. We each wanted our own bed so we opted to pay for 2 suites. There were some concerns in the beginning as the person in front of me, as well as the person behind me, both told the front desk staff that their dogs were service animals. This was clearly false as one of the person's dogs were all over the place, with absolutely no regard for their person or anyone or around them. The other person's dog was a puggle, probably around 6 months old, and service animals require anywhere from 1-3 years of training. None of the dogs were wearing anything that indicated they were service animals.

Furthermore, the staff did not ask for any documentation to prove these were service animals. These people clearly lied to have the pet deposit waived. This is a disservice to people who truly have service dogs, and La Quinta should be requiring its staff to ask for service animal documentation. Our rooms were very clean and there were no issues with the amenities. There was plenty of green space to walk the dogs with poo bag stations. However, we each had very restless nights which was quite unfortunate as we had about 12 remaining hours to drive the next day.

My friend's room shared a wall with the person with 2 "service dogs." These dogs barked most of the night with the owner yelling "no" at them. The walls are very thin and my friend had to listen to this all night. I shared a wall with a furnace of some sort that had incredibly loud clanging. Finally at around midnight, I went to the front desk and asked for a different room. They only had one pet-friendly room available so I moved to it. It is important to note that this room was not a suite and it was not offered to me when we checked in, which would have saved us some money. Nevertheless, I moved into it with both of the dogs in the hopes that I could finally get some sleep. Alas, this room also shared walls with a furnace of some sort as the clanging continued throughout the night. With no other rooms available, I had not choice but to toss and turn all night... I would fall sleep before jolting wide awake to yet another bang. There is a Yelp review which discusses these loud noises & I wish I had read it beforehand.

In the morning, I let the front desk staff know about the issues we experienced. I was clearly interrupting her phone scrolling as she simply stared at me with a blank expression before finally telling me she would "tell the manager." I asked her for the name of the manager, and she told me it was Kenny. I have now left "Kenny" 3 messages and have not received a call back. I would not stay at this La Quinta again and I would urge those who cannot sleep with loud banging noises and/or dogs barking with owners yelling "no" to look elsewhere. The next day was incredibly long for both of us and to not even receive a call back or an apology is very disheartening.
