Solid hotel

Comfort Suites Lakewood - Denver

I’ve stayed here twice and had a decent experience both times. The rooms are nice and well-furnished with comfortable beds and linens. The bedside lamps have built-in outlets, as does the desk (plus USB ports), which is convenient. The toilet and shower are separate from the sink, which I always find useful if you’re traveling with others. There is also a sink in the tiny kitchenette area so you can keep food separate from toiletries. My fridge didn’t get very cold, though, and the freezer compartment was useless, so I would be careful about what food you plan to keep in the room. Overall, this is a good option for the price and I will likely be here again in the future.

The primary issues I had with the hotel were the chlorine smell and the pet relief areas (or lack thereof). I guess you can safely assume you’re safe from any microbes in the pool; the pool is chlorinated so strongly it hits you as soon as you walk through the door. It’s honestly a bit nauseating, but it’s tolerable enough to walk through on your way in and out of your room. I didn’t get breakfast, but if you’d like food in the morning I’d suggest taking it back to your room since the chlorine smell is so overwhelming.

You also have to be prepared to walk a bit to get to a decent pet relief area. There’s thankfully a bag/bin station across from the front entrance, but the entire property is covered in rocks instead of grass. The nearest patch of grass is the narrow strip along the road/sidewalk outside the property. This was fine for my boy since he’s pretty old and we just did our business and went back inside, but he’d be out of breath by the time we got back to the room. There’s a bush near the front door where the rocks have been watered plenty courtesy of Maverick. If you need more grass than the roadside strip, you’ll have to take a bit of a hike. The road is decently busy, too, so you’ll have to make sure to keep a good hold on your leash.

The place is comfortable, though, and most everyone I encountered seemed nice enough. The location is convenient. I’ll likely test out some other places in the area; that’s what I did for my second visit, but I switched to this hotel during the trip because it’s a reliable option that I definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice mid-range hotel.
