The entire experience was perfect. It was a beautiful location, low crime area, beautifully landscaped, shade for each car and protection from the elements. A modest pet area, but again in a safe enough area to comfortably walk around so your Fido can do his or her business without you feeling unsafe. Clean rooms, and I would definitely stay there again.

Can't say enough amazing things about Mariah and Nubia at the front desk! What wonderful front desk employees, sincerely. Thank you, ladies, for a wonderful stay, and for welcoming my fur baby and I so kindly! I thankfully did not run across evidence of other guests who would have otherwise been negligent in picking up their dogs mess. In other words, unlike several other La Quintas at which I have stayed, there was not at all any kind of high risk that I was going to step in some other guests dogs business.
The grounds seemed mostly poop-free! On that note, this particular La Quinta boasts probably the most acreage of greenery on at least two sides of it, so if you have a dog who needs to stretch its legs quite a bit far from traffic, this is the La Quinta for you! Even though they were stains on the top layer of the bedding, I am the type of person who peels back all of the bedding down to the mattress to see that there are no bed bugs.
Happy to report that the bedding was rather immaculate, and there was Zero evidence of bed bugs. This was important to me because a buddy of mine was not so fortunate who had attempted two separate rooms at one of the nearby Wingate hotels by Wyndham. Both of his rooms had massive infestations of bed bugs. Do better, Wyndham!
Whoever works at this particular La Quinta does and obviously much better job at keeping the linens clean, with the minor exception of the top layer having minor stains on it. Also, the hallways looked as though they had not at all been vacuumed for several days, but my towels and sheets were clean in my room, so I was happy! The hotel could use PROPER maintenance; notice that I put emphasis on the word proper. This place is definitely maintained, but the poor guy who maintains the place needs to have budget cuts on his use of a caulk gun, because the bathroom had about a metric ton of caulking rather sloppily applied to the edges. But at least they are maintaining it! It just looks like my 4-year-old niece applied it wherever it was.
These are minor complaints, though. This was a great stay in a fantastic location with an even more amazing staff at the helm. Thank you for having amazing people at the front desk, La Quinta, and thank you for not being representative of the nearby Wingate with its plethora of bed bugs. I definitely recommend staying at this particular La Quinta in this specific location! Portland is the place to be when visiting Corpus Christi with its extremely low crime rate by comparison to the crime rate of Corpus Christi, but it's only a hop, skip, and a jump across the Waterway and the new bridge to the main parts of Corpus.
