I had never really had a dog until I found my first rescue pup. She has changed my life in so many ways. So much so that we adopted another rescue. They are extremely important to me.

A Good Day!

Stewart Beach Park

Parking was $15, but it was really close to the actual beach. It was maybe a minute or two to walk to my car, which is a good thing when you have dogs. This beach is marketed as the “family-friendly” beach, probably because no alcohol is allowed. Dogs are allowed on-leash, but within 15 minutes, someone had showed up with 3 dogs without leashes. It was pretty clean, not a lot of trash. And there were a lot of trash cans to put your trash in. There was a lot of dried seaweed. The pavilion prices were decent ($10 for some water shoes) and they had a snack bar, store, and restrooms/showers to use. They also have umbrella and chair rentals. I would go back to this beach.

Great!

BayWatch Dolphin Tours

I have a dog who LOVES car rides, so I thought she’d enjoy this. It was a pleasant tour filled with lots of information. We watched dolphins for about 15 minutes, but then moved on to a tour about other Galveston locations. My dog loved the wind and the salt spray. Captain Adam was great and even gave my dog a little shout-out over the speaker. We parked in a lot down the street for $5, but downtown parking a little farther away is free. Side note: I have another dog who doesn’t love car rides and new situations. After the tour, I was really glad we didn’t take him. Just know your pup!

Pretty good stay!

Wingate by Wyndham Galveston East Beach

I liked staying here because there was enough space in our room for 2 crates while still being comfortable. Pros: RIGHT across from the beach, nice minifridge and microwave, close to good food, affordable (at least on a Sunday night). Cons: we found a flea in the room at first (but no more later), the TV is dated, there’s a lot of foot traffic due to people parking there to walk to the beach, the area to walk dogs was a very small patch of grass. Your dog will get bored if they only go out to see this tiny plot of grass, so maybe walk them on the beach, too. Overall, though, I would stay here again.
