Excellent Rooms and Service

Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach

No more compromising hotels because you have a dog or your dog is larger than 25 pounds. This hotel is directly across from the beach (get a beach view room), the hotel and rooms are new (not brand new, but modern and very comfortable), and the staff receive SIX bones. Easy to valet your car (beware, there is a $51 daily valet), the staff LOVES dogs (there is a dog bowl in lobby and treats at desk), and the staff is very attentive, happy, and welcoming.

The rooms are nice sized, rooms that non dog owners would receive, very nice bathroom (except they have a rain shower with a half glass wall which means water on the floor), Keurig in room, pool, restaurant (pet friendly), and plenty of green areas in front for pooch potty stops, and the beautiful beach right across the street.

This hotel is a little off the main area, but we liked that it was in the quiet section and about a 15/20 minute walk to the main drag. We walked with our dog to the Ritz to sit outside, have a craft cocktail and an amazing burger while looking at the ocean. The ONLY downside are the "extra" fees: $75 pet fee, $51 daily parking, AND $46 daily "resort fee" (for towels, etc that really should be baked into the room rate).

EXCELLENT Restaurant with or w/o Fido

Cinghiale

Walking distance from our hotel (Courtyard Marriott). Later dinner due to trip arrival time. Seated promptly outside. Alex was our waiter and was very attentive and explained the menu. Cocktail menu is amazing. I ordered the Cosmo made with grapefruit vodka (yum). Hubby had Manhattan that had a twist to the recipe. We ended up getting the pre fix menu. I was in the mood for a salad and it was simple but perfect. Arugula with shaved fennel and parm, candied lemons, and a divine dressing. Hubby had a the soup (and I had a taste). The pasta starters were fantastic (lasagna and agnolotti with pork ragu in butter sage sauce). We both had the veal. So crispy outside, moist inside. Each were huge. Took half of each for leftovers. Desserts were a wonderful ending. Amazing that a high end restaurant welcomes dogs!!!

Great Food and Service

Mario's Pizza & Restaurant

Most places were closed on Monday. Mario’s was open and had several outdoor tables. Our waitress was wonderful to our pup (brought fresh water) and the humans. Extensive Italian menu. I ordered the garden salad to start (lots of veggies) and they make their own Italian dressing. Hubby and I split a pizza that was yummy. They also serve beer and wine. It’s in a strip center with a grocery store and ice cream store.

Updated Hotel

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Rocky Mount NC

Close to two major highways for easy access. The hotel was renovated several years ago and seems nicer than some Country Inns. VERY nice employees at location. Lots of parking and green space to walk your pup. Low puppy fee. However, the town is a little sleepy. We were there on a Monday and many restaurants were closed. We ate at Mario's nearby (need to drive a mile) that had outdoor seating and our pup was welcomed. Excellent Italian food.

Great Food, Coffee, Staff & Location

Midway Cafe & Coffee Bar

Plenty of outdoor seating behind building with shady areas too. The staff is soooo friendly (we were offered to go coffees). Food is amazing. Plenty of choices and very fresh. Hubby had the skillet breakfast with three meats and I had the egg pita with bacon. Serious coffee here too with a very extensive coffee menu and unlimited refills. Did not order any baked goods, but they looked awesome. There was a metal dog bowl for pooch, a water container outside, and a bathroom outside for humans. With or without a pooch this is worth the stop.

Perfect Pooch Spot

First Flight Island Restaurant & Brewery

Our dog was greeted more warmly than we were😂. Beautiful outdoor space to dine and tables are not crammed. Lovely greenery to shade you and your pooch. They bring a water bowl for your pooch and continue to fill it. The food is amazing (ours and what we saw served to other tables). Highly recommend with or without a dog.

Charming, Clean, and GREAT Location

Rose Lane Villas

PERFECT location in the heart of Key West. You can walk to most everything. It’s situated on a quiet side street that’s half a block from the action. Love the check in (they send you your room number and room entry code). You have a parking spot in front of your room. Our room was in the front, ground floor. CHARMING and cute. Nice size living area with plenty of seating, high top dining table, and plenty of room for doggie crate. Small kitchen (but very adequate for our use) with a refrigerator, range, nice microwave. And they have a coffee maker (12 cup) and provide coffee, cream, and sugar (excellent coffee). Kitchen equipped with higher end plates, mugs, pans. They provide a recycling bin for your cans and bottles. Bathroom on the smaller size, but very nice. High end bath products not in small sample bottles, but all you can squirt. Window air units in all rooms. Sometimes a little noisy (when you are not used to them) but effective. VERY clean and comfortable. You feel like you are staying in someone’s home, not a hotel. Husband is already planning next years trip back here. Hidden gem.

Dog Friendly, Easy I-81 On & Off

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Winchester VA

Not the Ritz or Marriott, but clean and spacious rooms. Bathrooms look updated, had a good sized fridge, quiet air conditioner. Staff was SUPER FRIENDLY (both check in, and check out). It seems like they put the “dog families” on the left side of the hotel by the side exit where there is a nice sized spot for potty stops (they have a poop station). Although they didn’t have their buffet breakfast (due to Covid), they did bag one (to eat there or on the road). Coffee in lobby. Next door to Longhorn, Carrabba’s, gas station with a Seven 11. We had a beautiful evening and drove to I J Canns American Grill (lots of outdoor seating near shopping). Great place to stop overnight with a pooch.

Something for Everyone

IJ Canns American Grille

Nice outdoor seating (lots of tables and spaced out). Greeted and seated right away. Signs posted to be patient due to staff shortage (Covid), but we had great, friendly service. Nice cocktail selection (and wine & beer). Menu had a variety of appetizers, sandwiches (hubby had rueben with yummy fries), burgers, traditional main (I had chicken Marsala with linguine), and kids menu. In a shopping center with a Talbots, Loft, chocolate shop, and more.

Unique Hotel - Worth It

Viceroy Washington DC

Last minute reservation (2 hours out) coming through DC on a trip. Decor- not your usual Hilton/Marriott decor. Bathroom amazing. The biggest tv we have seen in a hotel (60 some inch). Very friendly check in and because they were short staffed, the maintenance guy stepped in to take our luggage and valet park our car. He was amazing… loved his job and so welcoming. Everyone loved seeing our dog (staff and guests). Water bowl and treat bowl in entrance of hotel. Walking distance to White House. Great restaurants close by (Logan Tavern for dinner and The Commissary for breakfast). Whole Foods close by too. Just a cool hotel with great service that loves dogs!
