Very welcoming
Monahan's Clam Shack By the SeaThe staff at Monahan's was very welcoming to our 9-month old Golden. We walked her around quite a bit to tire her out before sitting down. The outdoor seating by the water was great place for her to rest while we enjoyed some great food.

Great day!
Fort Adams State ParkWe found out about Fort Adams State Park on this website and I'm so happy we did!
We were looking for a place that the whole family (2 adults, 4 kids, and 1 9-month old Golden Retriever) could enjoy together. Fort Adams had it all: great views, a wonderful (flat) walking path, concessions and clean restrooms , and, of course, a great tour of a historical landmark we were unaware of prior to our visit!
It was a hot day for our Golden but the pace of the tour allowed her to stroll leisurely and take frequent drinks from her water bottle. As others have said, this is not a "dog park" so we made sure to keep her toward the back of the tour group. The staff and others in the tour group were very welcoming. It was a highlight of our week in Rhode Island!
