Rude staff, terrible room, but hotel did the right thinh

We had a written confirmed reservation for a non-smoking room, but when checking in we were given a smoking room. At first, the front desk clerk insisted it was our fault for booking the wrong room. When we showed her the written confirmation she blamed BringFido. SHe even suggested that because we paid BringFido and not the hotel it was not her problem. SHe insisted there was no non-smoking room available. No apology. No offer aof any type of assistance. No offer to even try to do anything. It was too late to go anywhere else, so we stayed in the room. The refrigerator was unplugged, probably because it didn’t even work when we plugged it in. The bathtub drain was broken. There was an ironing board but no iron. One light did not work. We cancelled the remainder of our stay and moved to another pet friendly hotel. BUT, the hotel did the right thing—it gave us a complete refund, even for the one night we stayed. (Something we did not expect or even ask for). Otherwise this would have been a one bone review.
