No pets on elevator

Extended Stay America Suites Memphis Wolfchase Galleria

General description: the accommodations are a sort of cross between an apartment and hotel. The room was a studio with wood-look floors, and a kitchenette, with a full refrigerator, cabinets, a 2-burner stove and a dishwasher! Cookware and dishes are available to borrow, but they were out of some things. They do accept large pets "no more than 36" tall, no more than 36" long." There was adequate grassy area for walking pets. There is a "grab and go" breakfast available, but is limited to coffee, cereal, oatmeal and muffins.

Now the bad: the location is very noisy. We asked to be placed as far from the highway as possible. This entailed going through a maze of hallways to locate our room. Apparently, there was only a room available on the 2nd floor. While there was a stairwell close to our room, we have an old arthritic dog who weighs 60 lbs and cannot climb stairs. Pets are not allowed on the elevator, but we snuck her on the elevator anyway, as that was really the only way to get her up and down. Very cool: As we were wheeling our luggage to the car, we encountered a flock of Canadian geese, with several goslings, walking around in the parking lot.

Gone Downhill

La Quinta by Wyndham Memphis Primacy Parkway

Had stayed at this hotel several times before Wyndham took it over. It's main advantage is that is not on a major freeway, so much less traffic noise. Pets used to be free, website indicates $20 per night, but we were charged $20 per pet (since we have 2, it was $40!!!). Complained to manager, and she wouldn't change it. Size limitation shown on BringFido apparently doesn't apply. Trash laying around in parking lot, unlike our last visit.
