Refused us a room

We searched on several websites, Bay Watch Resort in North Myrtle Beach showed near the top when I put in "Pet Friendly" in the Amenities box.
When I booked for a Studio that proposedly accepts 6 people, I wrote I would just be traveling with my pet who weighs 16 lbs, but he stays with me, has a stroller, a bed, etc. I received 2 or 3 confirmations all of which included my notation, none of which referred me to any policy to the contrary.
We arrived after driving 4 hours. He was in his stroller.
They refused to let us stay - giving us all of 2 options - to go to the next town and stay at their sister hotel which accepts pets or leave.
I asked that they look at my confirmation, that they ask the owner of the condo, look up what all the websites say - to deaf ears. They said I should have looked at their policy on their website for the exclusion. Apparently it is seasonal. There was no notation on any other website to refer me to that policy - again it did not matter.
Since I did not accept the other hotel, they called security. I did not know where to go - I was meeting a realtor there. They also threatened to call the police. I was just frozen usnure where to go. I did not bring my computer.
Horrible. A friend found a LaQuinta for me to stay 1 of the nights - which was nice, and then I went home a day early.
Did I say horrible??
