Leaking Faucet, Clogged Tub & Mystery Clothes

First, like what someone has mentioned here already there is not much space for a “dog area.” The parking lot was also littered with trash. The carpet in the room smelled like pee. While I was brushing my teeth, I felt water splashing on my leg. The faucet was leaking on the floor. The tub was also slow draining, so water was up to my ankle while showering. When we opened the drawer to put our clothes, we found dirty a shirt and a pair of shorts (possibly from the previous person in that room). Positives: there is a 24-hour restaurant with a drive-thru beside it and Starbucks is walking distance.

Talk about shady

When we saw the pictures, the rate, the relative closeness to Old Town San Diego, and the rating, we thought this would be an ok place to stay for the weekend. Boy were we wrong! Bad sign #1: It’s situated under the transfer/overpass of two freeways. Bad sign #2: Lots of RVs/broken down trailers and cars on the street leading up to it. Bad sign #3: A hooker soliciting her services (or waiting to get picked up by her pimp) right on the driveway to the motel. Bad sign #4: It reeked of cigarette and marijuana smoke. Bad sign #5: People speeding into or out of the parking lot. Bad sign #6: Our dog was uneasy and wanted to get outta there.

And that’s just the tip of the ice berg. With the bad vibes we were getting, we decided to stay someplace else, which seems to be a common theme here as the front desk lady already was asking if we wanted to cancel our second night. We decided to “gift” our first night to an (unfortunately) drug user (with her child with her) and find another place. Ahhh, just another chapter to add to the book of our adventurous life. We are pretty easy going but it is a no for us for this place.
