Great Park for Dog and Exercise
Medina River Natural AreaNear my house so we go often. My pups love to get drinks of water from the river so we stop at least 1-2 times. To make it a workout for me and I’ve stopped running, I loop it twice. That’s 45-50 min fast walk which is great for everyone!
Good Park But Owners Need to Watch Dogs
Dog Park at Pearsall ParkI’ve been to this park a handful of times with my 2 Pitbull dogs. About 2 weeks ago, an owner brought their dog, I want to say he was a Mastiff due to the large 140 lbs he quoted but owner said he is a Boxer. Dog seemed ok on leash but once off, it got into a tiff with other dogs. Before I knew it, both our dogs jumped in and one of ours got bit above right ear and on ear. It was a tussle to separate them because a bunch of dogs jumped in. We immediately grabbed ours and left. Moral: if you’re bringing your dog and you keep it on leash, expect it to have pent up energy and even lash out. Once you take off leash, watch for aggression signs and remove dog immediately. Socializing takes time and patience. I didn’t get mad at owner because I know it’s not the dog’s fault entirely and because one of our Pitbulls can be aggressive.
