Very disappointed

Best Western Mayport Inn & Suites

I'll start with the desk staff. They were very friendly and efficient. The rest wasn't great. Our room was a King, pet-friendly accommodation. It was obviously pet-friendly as the upholstered chair had been shredded (presumably by a cat) and the "privacy" sheers were shredded as well. Someone had tried to pin the decorative (non-traversing) drapery closed, which is impossible since they aren't meant to close. There were pieces of needle or pins sticking out of the inside vertical hems of the fabric. Ouch! There was one of those horrid "room fresheners" plugged into a socket - emitting an overpoweringly, nauseating floral(?) scent. We were traveling with our 10# Havanese. The room was not serviced on our first day. I went to the desk and told them that if the "do not disturb" sign was not on the door we and our dog were not in the room. Otherwise, we would leave the "do not disturb" on the door. Housekeeping hours are 8-11:30 and we were out before 10. Second day, no service - this time "the girls left early". Finally gave up - picked up fresh towels at the front desk. The bed was passable, the pillows were awful - fat and hard, the sole blanket was worn and either not king-sized, had shrunk or had been tucked in at the foot so that it could not be pulled to get within 18" of the headboard. A standing lamp could not be turned off without unplugging it - no switch on the fixture - it did appear to have had a pull-chain that had been pulled out.
I suspect that the property has recently changed ownership and is just getting started. It was inexpensive, I'll give them that, but they have a long way to go to bring it up to even average accommodations.
