Left and won't return

Was suspicious the minute I saw the place. I was told the only room available for me (a 75-year-old senior) and my dogs (one an arthritic 13-year-old, one a youngster who had never climbed steps before) was on the second floor. Long story, but I didn't have another option, other than driving home in the dark for 3 1/2 hours. I got the dogs up and into the room. The thin carpet was so stained and damaged I hated for them to lay on it. I'd brought a dog bed and fleece throw for them, but ended up wrapping myself in the throw because I found what I'm sure was a mouse turd (maybe from where the sheet was stored), when I turned the covers back.

It was hard to sleep because a street light shone right in my face. About 1:00am the older dog needed to go out. I ignored her for an hour, but then had to take her and the young dog, too. She was afraid to go down the steps until I secured the young dog and went back up to help her. She was so desperate that she peed and pooped in the alley on the way to the designated pet area. That is another story. I parked my car by the pet area, because the parking in front of the rooms was packed with trucks close together. There were also people sleeping in their vehicles in front of the pet area. The pet area consisted of dried out stubble with dog poo throughout. Not a good place to walk in the dark.

I loaded the pups into the car, went back to the room, got our things and departed at about 2:30am. I drove home east on I90 in darkness with my poor vision and lack of sleep. We are grateful to be safe at home! By the way, the purpose of the trip was an animal transport of a puppy needing heart surgery. I dropped him with another driver before suffering the awful motel experience. I guess I won't pick the low-priced choice next time, though I've stayed in many Motel 6s and other economy motels during my long life. Never seen one this awful. Oh, the bathroom and appliances were clean, so one bone for that!
