Disappointed

The Inn at Mountainview

I'll start with what we appreciated. Beds were decent although pillows were too flat and bedding scratchy, climate controls were adjustable and effective, quiet room, breakfast options were standard and we appreciated that they had plain unsweetened packets of oatmeal that we could prepare as we like.

Areas for improvement. Upon entering the lobby and throughout the hotel we were overwhelmed by the smell of cleaning products. Our bathroom door would not latch closed or stay closed. It also looked like it was undergoing repairs and had primer on scratches and gouges in the wood. The shower curtain smelled bad and had mildew spots on it. When I asked for a replacement they gave me one to replace it myself since they couldn't find anyone to replace it before I would need to take a shower.

The replacement curtain was two feet shorter than the old one so I had to readjust the tension shower curtain rod lower so that it would keep the water from splashing out during a shower. Additionally when I went to prepare myself some coffee/tea I found that the Keurig water tank was speckled inside with mildew/mold. I took a picture of it to show the front desk and ask for a replacement. Somehow this request was translated to the cleaning staff that we wanted our room cleaned!

Fortunately we were in our room when the cleaning crew arrived and we were able to explain what the issue was and they gave us a new replacement coffee maker. There were at least three light bulbs that were not working so I was able to get replacement lightbulbs from the cleaning staff when they stopped by. We were also short one pillow on one bed. We were staying for several days so we bought food to keep in the mini fridge/freezer.

When we went to unload the items into the fridge we found a half consumed iced coffee bottle in the fridge. Additionally the freezer compartment was completely iced over so that we had to request a replacement mini fridge to be able to use the freezer space. Finally, this hotel advertises that it is dog friendly and has a fenced off dog park area. While this is true, the fence is bent and twisted in places and in some of these places a dog could get out of the enclosed area. The dog park area also shared patio space with the designated smoking area which is unfortunate if you prefer to avoid cigarette smoke.

I would not choose to stay here again unless it made some serious upgrades to their level of cleaning and room/property maintenance. It could really be a lovely stay, their location has great views and is conveniently located.
