Gorgeous place to hike
Coopers Rock State ForestWe stopped at Coopers Rock on our way to New River Gorge in October 2024. It was a rainy day but we enjoyed hiking the Rock City trail and part of Rattlesnake trail. The trails were spectacular and the dogs seemed to really enjoy the rock city trail. Rattlesnake trail was a bit too rocky and challenging for us in the rain so we aborted that and returned to our car, soaked but happy. We also took time to enjoy the overlook area. Finding the trail head was a little confusing. The trails were not really blazed although there were trail markers and maps at intersections. The park was clean and trails well maintained.

specatcular park
New River Gorge National Park & PreserveOctober 2024. My friend and I and our three dogs enjoyed a 2 day stay at an air bnb in Glen Jean while we explored New River Gorge. The highlight of our visit was the 3.5 mile Endless wall trail hike. The second mile of this hike is along the cliffs above New River with wonderful views of the gorge. Diamond Point and the Overlook near the climbing wall are the best full views and also afford some rocky outcrops on which to sit and rest. Of course before our adventures we stopped at the visitors center (no dogs allowed inside though) to collect the Bark Ranger tags and certificates. I love how pet friendly this park is and was very impressed at how clean and well maintained the trails were. We also enjoyed the audio driving tour through the gorge. It was informative and a nice way to explore and learn after we had worn ourselves out on our hike.

Yum
Rita's Italian IceI enjoy Ritas quite a bit so I was thrilled to learn that they offer pup cups. Now we all get a treat. My dogs really enjoy the vanilla custard. Of course only a little bit but it does not seem to bother their tummies.

Closed-temporary
Frick Park Off Leash Exercise AreaThis off leash area is currently closed due to construction on the Fern Hollow Bridge above it.

Great views, geese, goose poop
North Shore Riverfront ParkLots of geese and goose poop but this is still a nice walk along the river with great views of the city. My dog enjoyed seeing all of the geese and ducks. There is no off leash area here.
