There are better Motel 6's
Motel 6 Woods Cross UT - Salt Lake City - NorthThe Good: Great person at check in. Room was clean and had 'the basics.' Very nice location (decent neighborhood). The Not-so-Good: no fridge, no microwave. Only one chair. Noisy air/heat unit (couldn't hear the tv due to the fan noise). I usually stay at Motel 6's due to my dog(s). This particular Motel 6 was the most expensive of four used within the last 3 weeks, and wasn't as well equipped. On the positive side, I didn't need a fridge or a microwave, but for spending over $30 per night over the other rooms, one would think that all of them would be equipped the same.
Hotel under New Ownership
OYO Hotel Goodland KS Hwy 24The Good: 'Deluxe' room without a deluxe price. A couch, desk with chair, coffee table. Part of the bathroom has been updated. The hotel appears to serve food, although I didn't order any. There were many fast food places, a Wal-Mart, 2 gasoline & a couple of local places to try. While the area has definitely a rough & scrabble air to it, I kind of liked the conveniences that were so close.
The Not-so-Good: the very tall street sign out front states Econo Lodge. It is now under OYO ownership. If a new sign were out front, I wouldn't have stopped, even though I had pre-booked a reservation. The entire grounds area & the hotel itself, appears as a work in progress. While the appearance may put some people off, the only major issue I had was the bathtub. It was difficult to safely get into & out of the tub - there were no anti-slip strips in the tub itself & no grab bar on the wall at the end of the tub. Although I'm not old, feeble nor disabled, I felt unsafe getting into & out of the shower/tub. Also, as a person binging a dog, I prefer 1st floor accommodations. Everyone has preferences - but 1st floor was totally booked and there weren't elevators.
Decent motel
Motel 6 Oklahoma City OK - SouthGood: large room, fantastic price, 15-20 min drive to a great dog park. Check in person was very nice. Lots of light in the room. Saw other dogs there & a feral cat appeared in the morning.
Not-so-Good: tub didn't drain during morning shower, fridge was small without a shelf or plastic pieces to hold items. Couldn't get wi-fi access to work.
There wasn't a cart to aid in getting items into the room. Which may be a standard decision for Motel 6 since I've not seen one at any motel recently. But with multiple items to bring in: suitcase, small cooler, bag of food plus then bag of dog items & dog, a rolling cart would have made unloading easier. Can't even image three treks up flight of stairs to bring everything into the room. Especially with suspect areas where it's not a good idea to leave things in the car.
Nice motel
Motel 6 Holbrook AZArrived too early to check in, so drove down to the dog park on one end of town. very nice little rest stop with a fenced dog park. Trees on one edge of park lent some shade from the heat. Motel 6 allowed me to check in 1/2 hr early. Basic room, clean and a nice size. No table or chairs and I miss the ability to make coffee in the morning. But no coffee at any lodging place due to Covid, so not Motel 6's fault.
