Super Disappointing

Quick summary of the hotel as follows: When opening the door to our room, we were hit with a SUPER STRONG cleaning/air freshener scent -- as if something we trying to be hidden. As we unpacked our luggage and walked outside with our dogs, we saw pile after pile of dog doo, all over the turfed areas. I lost count at 20-someting piles. We also noticed a plethora of cats hiding in and around the bushes, along the walkways and in the parking lot. (Wife's theory is that the cats are kept in an attempt to keep rodents at bay).

We tried to leave the windows open for a bit to let the overpowering chemical smells dissipate, but nothing really helped. TV was semi-functional with several burnt in lines on the screen. The sink area of the bathroom had a faint smell of decay coming up from it. We wondered if perhaps a dead rodent was somewhere nearby (in the wall or floor) and thus the extra cleaning/air freshening attempts by the cleaning staff to cover it up?

Needless to say, we were happy to see 6am hit so we could gather our stuff and be on our way. But days later, we noticed both of our dogs scratching excessively. One final gift from the BW Big Country seemed to be a case of fleas. (We treat our dogs as directly with flea meds, and have never had any issues, but found multiple live fleas on both dogs, requiring additional treatment). Almost never leave poor reviews as generally hotels are fine and we understand occasional issues, but beginning to end this was our least pleasant experience in travelling with our pooches so far.
