Pleasantly Surprised

This is why first impressions don't matter. When we arrived, the place looked a little downscale, but the location was good and the surroundings seemed safe, so we checked in. We then saw the advantages. It's nice to have an outside door when you have pets, vs hauling them through a lobby/elevator/interior hallways to the room. We were also well off the street, so there was very little noise (the loud drunk down the way quieted down after a bit). The room was clean and well-equipped, with a fridge for our cooler contents, good lighting, a comfortable bed and the expected toiletries.

The location is walking distance to restaurants, none of which are 5-star but do the trick after a long day of driving when you just want a a satisfactory meal at a reasonable price. Gas was convenient, and the next morning we found a great bagel place just across the street that provided the breakfast and coffee needed for yet another long day on the road. The extra surprise was the room-service menu in what looked to be an ice-bucket-and-vending-machine kind of motel. We did not take advantage of this service, so hopefully another reviewer will try it out and rate the experience. In summary, we will stay there again and would recommend it to others. What's not to like about an inexpensive good night's sleep for humans and pets alike?
