Under Renovation

Howard Johnson by Wyndham Billings

Clean room with a great breakfast. The kids loved the circular water slide for the indoor pool. Our room was in the older section which was dated but clean and functional. If we were in the newer section I would score it higher probably (hadn't seen the updated rooms). For our traveling through stay, it met our needs with easy access to the interstate and restaurants. Our 90 lb pup was welcomed at all times as part of our family.

They know how to pamper a pup!

Best Western Sheridan Center

Without a doubt this was the best hotel we've ever stayed at with our pup. They had a care box ready for us on arrival with a special blanket, Yeti water bowl, and bag of treats. The room was nearly twice the standard room size and there was a well maintained grass area for pup relief just steps away from our room door. The kids loved the pool and everyone loved the breakfast - even our pup. He was welcomed everywhere we went on the property and got many pets. Will definitely make this a return spot and recommend it to others.

Great for dogs!

West Glacier KOA

Hands down the most epic KOA we've ever visited. Not one but two dog parks on property, great well groomed walking trail through the woods around the perimeter of the property. The camp store has a section devoted to dogs including treats, toys, accessories like bubbling water bottles to quench your pups thirst on a walk. Seemed like every other campsite had one or more dogs. Well maintained and very clean. Quite possibly the best KOA in the country (not only our opinion either; reviews are consistent as they are constantly adding and improving the KOA).

Keep your pup from being a snack

Glacier National Park

I was a bit upset I couldn't bring my pup out hiking with me on the trails in Glacier National Park You see it is not like any other National Park. I took and early morning hiking up to see the sunrise over Avalanche Lake. I rounded a bend and was within 100 yards of a mother grizzly and her two cubs. I quietly backed down the trail. In Glacier National Park you have a great chance of encountering grizzly bear (and not wolves too)... much more than in any other tourist laden location I've ever seen. I am so glad my pup was not along or he may have startled the grizzly or been considered as food. Glacier is beautiful but not worth possibly losing my pup over. In my 7-day camping trip there, I saw bear 6 times,
and saw one moose.

The park is incredible and there are a number of multi-day backpacking trails (Only one road cuts through the park) but as for a place to enjoy with your pup, you are wisely limited to roads and campgrounds. People do ignore the rules and have created dangerous encounters and their scent brings hungry bears closer in.

There is a reason the rental car companies offer bear spray at the Glacier International Airport.
