This secret little bay area is open to anyone, and dogs are welcome here. Many humans walk their dogs a little distance past the entrance since families are often swimming and spending time near the entrance. The beach area can get crowded on weekends.
Pet Friendly Montauk Beach in Montauk, NY
Dogs are not allowed on the beaches between 9am and 6pm from mid-May through the end of September. No restrictions apply for the remainder of the year. Montauk has no leash laws and dogs may run on the beach with supervision when permitted. Owners are expected to exercise control, particularly on crowded beaches, and to clean up after their dogs. The beach can be accessed through several points along Old Montauk Highway or right in the center of town.
Pet Friendly Mirror Lake in Lake Placid, NY
Mirror Lake is a great place to bring Fido when you're in Lake Placid. You can walk all the way around the lake on a 2.7 mile trail. Make sure you bring water and doggie clean-up bags, which are also available on the route around the lake. The water is absolutely clean and beautiful and we want to be sure this beach stays pet friendly forever! The beach is sandy and laid back and friendly dogs are welcome to take a dip with their owners as well. Just note that the village of Lake Placid has many events that are staged at this beach, including the famous Ironman competition, so be aware of the dates before you plan your visit.
Pet Friendly East Hampton Main Beach in East Hampton, NY
Enjoy some beach frisbee or a casual stroll in the sand with your pup throughout the year at East Hampton Main Beach. Dogs are welcome off-leash anytime in the off-season. From the second Sunday in May through September 30, dogs are not permitted on the beach at all from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, daily. At all other times during the period from the second Sunday in May to September 30, dogs MUST be manually restrained on a leash within areas that are within 300 feet of any road end along the beaches. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets and keeping them under control. Plastic bags for clean-up are conveniently provided at the entrance to each village beach. The village actively patrols beaches and strictly enforces regulations.
