Minnewaska State Park Preserve Minnewaska State Park Preserve is dog-friendly! Leashed pets are welcome to join their owners as they explore the area, which is situated on the dramatic Shawangunk Mountain ridge, and features numerous waterfalls, crystalline sky lakes, dense forests, sheer cliffs, streams, and fifty miles of footpaths. Dogs are not allowed in buildings, camping, picnic or bathing areas or on walkways. They are not permitted on the cross-country ski trails when they are groomed and open for cross-country skiing only. Minnewaska State Park Preserve's hours vary seasonally, so dog owners should call ahead or check its website before planning their outing.
