North Bend Rail-Trail The North Bend Rail-Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Parkersburg! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the North Bend Rail-Trail. Tamarack Marketplace Tamarack Marketplace is a dog-friendly artisan market in Beckley, WV. Endless Wall Trail Endless Wall Trail is pet-friendly. This 2.5-mile moderate trail in New River Gorge passes through rich forest, crosses Fern Creek, then zig-zags along the cliff edge to incredible views of the New River, which meanders 1000 feet below. The area is popular among rock climbers, hikers and dog walkers alike. History buffs will be interested to learn that this spot was once home to Nuttallburg Mine — the largest mine in the New River Coalfields in the late 1800s. Blennerhassett Island State Park Explore the dog-friendly historical Blennerhassett Island State Park in Parkersburg, WV. Its reconstructed mansion offers visitors a glimpse of life on a colonial farmstead, and volunteers wear period-accurate costumes. Dogs are not allowed inside any buildings, but self-guided walking tours are available. Blennerhassett Island is open from the first of May until mid-November each year. While touring the park, visitors should allow at least three hours for a complete tour. This includes the sternwheeler ride to and from the island.
