Site Reliability Engineer

Full-time – Remote

We’re looking to hire a dog-loving Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our existing development team. This engineer will report to the CTO and will play a key software operations role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and stability of BringFido.com and the BringFido iOS app. The role includes monitoring system metrics, triaging and resolving issues, and managing deployments to keep our services running smoothly for our users and their pets.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain the reliability of BringFido.com and the BringFido iOS app.
  • Use Sentry to track and resolve website and API integration issues.
  • Use Google Search Console and Google Hotel Center to monitor and address SEO and content-related trends and issues.
  • Use NewRelic for performance and throughput monitoring to ensure system efficiency.
  • Manage and troubleshoot AWS-based deployment stack for consistent and reliable service delivery.
  • Triage and respond to incidents.
  • Work in collaboration with the development team to resolve issues and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and improve system resilience.
  • Document operational processes and incident management procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with Sentry, Google Search Console, and NewRelic, or equivalent tools.
  • Proficiency in AWS services and management, with a focus on deployment and operational excellence.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using languages like Python or Bash. API integration experience is a plus.
  • Strong background in continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication & people skills.
  • 3rd-party API integration experience is preferred.

Engineering at BringFido

The BringFido engineering team builds the BringFido.com website, apps for iOS and Android, and our data pipelines. We’re responsible for UI execution, data modeling, search engine presence, performance, PCI-level security, accessibility, and internal tools for our customer support agents and content writers.

We care a lot about clean code, conventions, semantics, and simplicity. These habits give us the environment we need to serve millions of monthly visitors with a small engineering team.

Our headquarters is in lovely Greenville, SC, but this is a remote position; we follow a location-independent workflow. Experience with remote collaboration and self-management is important. We use Slack, GitHub, and Shortcut, and we travel for in-person working meetups.
