The young girl at the front desk was pleasant but not knowledgeable, I think she was new. Upon check-in, I asked if our dogs could sit with us at breakfast and she asked another woman at the desk (manager?) who said no. I said since we weren't allowed to leave our pets unattended in the room and they can't sit with us at breakfast, what are we supposed to do? She replied curtly that we could eat in our room, like that should have been obvious to me.
I looked around and noticed that there were chairs and tables in the lobby area, away from the breakfast food area, and asked if we could eat there with the dogs. She flatly said no, end of discussion! I understand that they don't want animals near the food service, but their unwillingness to even try to accommodate us or try to make our stay more enjoyable was disappointing. We have stayed at other La Quintas, and other hotel brands, where they provided alternatives to allow us to have our dogs accompany us at breakfast.
In addition to that, the next morning as we were loading up a luggage cart in our room, one of our dogs slipped out of the room without our knowledge and ended up wandering into the kitchen area. The staff freaked out and shooed him right out the front door of the lobby, where he could have ran into the street, etc. Luckily a good Samaritan in the breakfast dining area jumped up and ran outside and caught our dog by the collar and held him until I could catch up to them.
I realize that it was our fault for not keeping track of him, but for the staff to not even care that they were putting our dog in danger was unforgivable. If your hotel is supposed to be pet friendly, then you better have staff that can handle interactions with pets! These are not wild animals that wander into the building, these are our pets, in some ways they are like our children. If a toddler wandered into a restricted area would they shoo them out the front door? I would hope not. Accidents happen, and I apologized for my part of that, but no one apologized to me for their over reaction and almost losing my pet, or worse.
- CatherineApr 25, 2024Boomer says 4 paws
Nice friendly staff. Clean room. 1st floor room and laminate floors instead of carpet were appreciated. A bit tight for a large dog but workable. Some nice green areas to walk dog at hotel and around area. Some nice food options around. Heater/AC system didn’t work.
- KristieApr 25, 2024Clean & Quiet
Me & my 2 dogs stayed here on a long drive across country. We had a spacious handicap room on the first floor that was the only room on that hallway with the meeting rooms, pool & gym. There’s plenty of grassy areas for pet relief & a couple of restaurants within walking distance.
- NancyMar 5, 2024Good pet walking area
La Quinta is a reliable choice and although the staff at this location did not seem to welcome pets, the accommodations were fine and dog walking area surrounding the hotel was good.
- JennyMar 1, 2024Convenient location
Easy to load from the parking lot, good amount of grass around the hotel to walk the dog.
- MaryJan 1, 2024Good location
Hotel had a very friendly and welcoming staff. We had a room close to the exit on the first floor. Room was clean and quiet. Not a ton of outdoor space, but enough for our beagle. Breakfast was good. We’d stay here again if we came back this way.
- JaneJan 1, 2024Great people
The hotel was clean and friendly. The staff made sure our request for a first floor was met. The breakfast was small but adequate. Will stay again.
- RichardDec 20, 2023Great experience
Helpful, friendly staff; great breakfast buffet, competitive pricing. Convenient location and comfortable room.
- ChristieNov 10, 2023Plenty of grassy areas
We stayed at this property twice as part of a road trip that took us through the area. It is a good location, right off the highway but the area felt very safe. Very friendly staff and we saw a few other fur babies when we were there. Plenty of grass around the hotel, straight out from the front doors and also along each side of the building. Several restaurants are within walking distance too. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
- EmilyOct 21, 2023Easy and Clean
Stayed one night. Room was clean and comfortable.
- LynnOct 2, 2023Good place
Friendly staff, clean room that was recently remodeled. They ask that the dogs are brought in the side doors which we prefer anyway.
- JenniferSep 27, 2023Worth a try
The location has plenty of restaurant choices close by and green spaces for your pet but it’s very busy. There’s a sidewalk for walking the dog. The street dead ends into the back parking lot of a shopping center but again in the evening it’s busy. It was great for walking in the morning when there weren’t many cars. The staff was very nice. The hotel was in the middle of renovations when we were there. I’m only giving four bones because the room smelled like pet pee. Unfortunately, I’m finding that with the few La Quinta‘s we’ve stayed at during this road trip. Otherwise, it was a good stay and I would recommend.
- RobertSep 15, 2023Easy to find
Very friendly staff, nice room, ample space to walk the dog.
- RebeccaSep 3, 2023Great place
The room was very nice and clean. There are several hotels in the area, with some largish green space to walk the dog. Very comfortable place. Will stay again when we go back west.
- MarciaAug 7, 2023Loved our stay!
Clean and friendly. It was awesome!
- DebJul 28, 2023Very pet friendly
Lots of other pets in the lobby and around the hotel. Very nice, clean room. Very welcoming to my dog.
- AnissaJul 25, 2023Great Location
Rooms were nice and clean, staff was very friendly, and they were very accommodating to my pets. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re just passing through.
- KayJul 13, 2023Super loud, could not sleep
A friend and I were transporting 2 dogs from Texas to their new home in North Carolina. This motel was at our halfway point. Upon arrival, I was told there were only king suites. We each wanted our own bed so we opted to pay for 2 suites. There were some concerns in the beginning as the person in front of me, as well as the person behind me, both told the front desk staff that their dogs were service animals. This was clearly false as one of the person's dogs were all over the place, with absolutely no regard for their person or anyone or around them. The other person's dog was a puggle, probably around 6 months old, and service animals require anywhere from 1-3 years of training. None of the dogs were wearing anything that indicated they were service animals.
Furthermore, the staff did not ask for any documentation to prove these were service animals. These people clearly lied to have the pet deposit waived. This is a disservice to people who truly have service dogs, and La Quinta should be requiring its staff to ask for service animal documentation. Our rooms were very clean and there were no issues with the amenities. There was plenty of green space to walk the dogs with poo bag stations. However, we each had very restless nights which was quite unfortunate as we had about 12 remaining hours to drive the next day.
My friend's room shared a wall with the person with 2 "service dogs." These dogs barked most of the night with the owner yelling "no" at them. The walls are very thin and my friend had to listen to this all night. I shared a wall with a furnace of some sort that had incredibly loud clanging. Finally at around midnight, I went to the front desk and asked for a different room. They only had one pet-friendly room available so I moved to it. It is important to note that this room was not a suite and it was not offered to me when we checked in, which would have saved us some money. Nevertheless, I moved into it with both of the dogs in the hopes that I could finally get some sleep. Alas, this room also shared walls with a furnace of some sort as the clanging continued throughout the night. With no other rooms available, I had not choice but to toss and turn all night... I would fall sleep before jolting wide awake to yet another bang. There is a Yelp review which discusses these loud noises & I wish I had read it beforehand.
In the morning, I let the front desk staff know about the issues we experienced. I was clearly interrupting her phone scrolling as she simply stared at me with a blank expression before finally telling me she would "tell the manager." I asked her for the name of the manager, and she told me it was Kenny. I have now left "Kenny" 3 messages and have not received a call back. I would not stay at this La Quinta again and I would urge those who cannot sleep with loud banging noises and/or dogs barking with owners yelling "no" to look elsewhere. The next day was incredibly long for both of us and to not even receive a call back or an apology is very disheartening.
- Jul 12, 2023Nice staff and clean accommodations
After long drive, we arrived to this very nice property and were greeted by an exceptional associate. The morning breakfast was good and adequate, at least for us. Everything was clean and the room was nice. We were glad to see we had solid-surface floors so we knew we weren’t walking around on questionable carpet left over from previous fur-babies. Not all La Quintas are this nice. We appreciated the attention to detail this property owner invests in their hotel and personnel and we’ve already booked a room here for our return-home trip.
- Mary ClaireJun 25, 2023Great Hotel
Nice room & great location.
- WayneJun 8, 2023Great location
Nice setup for our small dog. Friendly staff.
- CarolynJun 6, 2023Our 5th stay
We drive between Maine and Texas twice a year and this is a favorite stop for us. Everything about this hotel is terrific - clean, welcoming, great location. Highly recommend.
- SusanJun 4, 2023Good location, clean
Very slow check-in process.
- EmilyMay 27, 2023Wonderful staff
Very friendly staff at the hotel.
- TinaMay 20, 2023Nice Hotel
Nice people, nice location, nice hotel and beds, but the door and cabinets were scratched up for the price charged. Decent breakfast and pretty quiet.
- CarlMay 15, 2023Delightful experience
The hotel and staff was perfect. The only drawback was the barking, howling dog in an adjacent room. Although the clerk attempted to resolve the problem, it took hours to get the dog owners to quiet the dog. Same incident happened again the next morning.
- DavidMay 15, 2023Great stay
Room was clean, bed comfortable, staff friendly and doggy bags available. Breakfast was good. We were on the 1st floor so it was very convenient. It's the 1st time traveling with a dog in many years. I would stay again.
- JacquelineApr 24, 2023Incredible!
Such a beautiful facility and super clean. Staff was friendly and the entire experience was top notch.
- AnitaApr 20, 2023Nice stay
Very nice hotel. Would like to have taken advantage of the pool and spa but the heaters were down. Hot water in the room was not very hot. Grounds were good for walking the dog.
- LouisMar 25, 2023OK stay
Check-in was slow, did not get correct room (one bed instead of two). Ended up in 2nd floor. Beds uncomfortable and very noisy mattress. Breakfast just OK.
- DavidFeb 7, 2023So pleased with our stay
We were so impressed with the courtesy shown us (& our pets) from the minute we walked in the front door to the time we left. The rooms were very clean, I actually thought we didn’t have washcloths but realized part of the very nice “decorations” in the bathroom were the washcloths😄Breakfast was delicious!! We will be staying here again for sure ❤️
- MalgorzataFeb 1, 2023Great area, clean
Close to lots of restaurants/stores. Friendly staff. Quiet area.
- RebekahJan 27, 2023Very pleasant stay
My kitty and doggie loved the space and location! Bed was super comfortable for Mom. We all got a great night's rest after a long drive.
- FernandaJan 15, 2023Great stay
Clean room, friendly staff and dog bags at the poop station. I’d go back again.
- MarisaDec 31, 2022Clean Room
Relaxing stay with lots of room and grassy area to walk dogs on potty breaks.
- RafaelDec 30, 2022Location
The location is great, near restaurants and easy access to freeway. The only issue is the toilets are way too loud and the bed frames are not firm.
- GenadiDec 21, 2022Very good for the price
Our room was comfortable and reasonably priced. The pet fee was not outrageous. Staff very friendly. Nice area on the side of the building with grass and some shrubs for potty stop. Hotel has a bag dispenser, but sadly there were a few accidents, so mind your step. Hotel is on a not terribly busy street with sidewalk so a longer walk is possible and safe. Room had a fridge and microwave as well as coffee maker. Human breakfast was ok, but nothing spectacular. Several restaurant to choose from within short distance, including a Burger King next door and at least one across the street.
- BobbieOct 27, 2022Lovely stay
Friendly staff! Clean and quiet room with laminate flooring! Grassy areas are sparse but do exist on the non-highway-facing side of the hotel. We had a swell time there and would recommend to other travelers with pets :-)
- GeraldOct 7, 2022Great location
Friendly staff, dog walk area with bags and location easy access to other attractions and Hwy 40.
- DanielleJul 2, 2022Dog friendly and clean
High ceilings make the room feel big. Laminate flooring instead of carpet is ideal for a pet friendly stay.
- NicholasJun 29, 2022Dogs + Tesla
Good dog friendly hotel with a destination charger.
- AmyMay 26, 2022Nice rooms and very quiet
Convenient location right off the freeway. Lots of dining nearby. The rooms were clean and updated. We were in the first floor near the entrance and I hardly heard a sound while in my room. The staff and very friendly. Thank you!
- JennieApr 26, 2022It was fine
Definitely not as nice as the LaQs in CO or MO. It was more a Motel 6 quality. Decent location, but probably would try a different hotel the next time I’m in that area.
- CathyMar 3, 2022Dog friendly
The staff was excellent. Like that they had hardwood floors for the pets. Very pet friendly.
- DeniseDec 30, 2021Great hotel!
Clean rooms. Grass for pets with easy access to outside! Liked the pool too!!
- CathyDec 29, 2021Very nice stay!
There are a few restaurants you can walk to for carry-out or dine-in food. There is also a gas station just as you leave the hotel, which was SO clean! The staff was awesome.
- JosephDec 22, 2021High ceilings and beautiful hard surface floors.
The room was spacious and well decorated. We especially love the high ceilings and the simulated wood floors. We knew that we didn’t have other pet dander and you are in carpet because of the hard surfaces. The staff was very friendly and professional.
- AnnieDec 10, 2021Friendly and clean
Highly recommend.
- AllisonDec 4, 2021Great Rooms
Rooms were very clean and nice, nicer than I’d imagined any La Quinta would be. Parking lot was very bright and safe location with a range of eating options all around.
- LindaNov 5, 2021All around lovely and clean
And a great staff.
- LoriSep 21, 2021Loved the stay!
Our pups and us felt comfortable and cozy. Both of our doggies were welcome and easy to take outside. Recommend!
- JohnAug 11, 2021Great room and staff
Our best night so far staying with our dog Cody. Great location, clean room, and good support staff.
- WendyJun 27, 2021Great Location
We enjoyed our overnight stay there - nice hotel - friendly staff - and plenty of area to walk the dog. I’d definitely stay there again!
- TaylorMay 5, 2021Lovely stay!
Nice, safe location, conveniently situated, very pet friendly!!
- BeverlyApr 27, 2021No pet exercise area
The hotel room was fine but there was literally just a 3ft strip of grass between parking lot and fence to exercise dogs. Not what I expect from one of your recommendations
- KimberleyMar 22, 2021Great stop over
Great location, clean, modern , nice space for our Frenchie
- JoanMar 4, 2021Clean room, efficient service.
Our overnight was easy with this app! Our ground floor room was spotless with a hard cover floor. Lovely service. Thanks!
- KentFeb 27, 2021Basic
This hotel is very basic. Most La Quinta's are. So in and of itself, this isn't a problem. But they don't really have a pet relief area like they claim. Just a small strip of grass with some bags nearby. The hotel is in an area which is 90% parking lots, so there is really no place to take your pet. So that's why I can only give them 4 bones. Otherwise, everyone is very nice. The place is clean and well... basic.
- HaileyNov 5, 2020Your Average Hotel
This was a good hotel nothing special nothing bad. The staff was nice but they all looked like they didn’t want to be at work. The hot tub and pool are currently closed and there is only grab and go breakfast at this current time. This hotel is in a great location though near many restaurants and stores. There is also a good amount of grassy spots for dogs to do their business.
- StephOct 9, 2020Not awesome, not horrible
Where we were located had a lot of other guests passing by, at all hours of the night, making for a very noisy and disruptive night. Beds weren’t horribly uncomfortable but weren’t the most comfortable either. Probably wouldn’t stay here again.
- RogerOct 5, 2020Good location.
Breakfast package stale. Some staff not wearing masks.
- GailAug 19, 2020Great location
Clean and cozy
- LisaJul 14, 2020No Carpet!
The room was very modern and clean, but the best thing about it was the flooring. it was a nice composite hardwood look floor. all hotels should have these floors
- DebbyMay 25, 2020Very friendly and accommodating!
Room was great and the dogs were happy!
- DavenaOct 13, 2019Fido area very convenient, clean, manicured pleasant
- VanessaJun 3, 2019Best Hotel Of The Trip!!
We stayed at La Quinta hotels during our road trip, but this Memphis location particularly impressed us. Everything was clean comfortable, we were placed in close proximity to the side door where there was a large grass area and poop bags for the doggies. Plenty of people food nearby as well. No complaints at all! Will return!
- RyanMay 31, 2019Great location but new pet fee is a disappointment
I'm not sure how they are justifying it to themselves, but their new pet fee has led us to find different lodging. The location is nice if you don't have pets or don't mind getting price gouged.
- LindaApr 21, 2018Nice property, good location, but...
As noted, this is a nice property: clean, easy to find, and in a good location. My only surprise was their requirement that I sign a form ensuring that our dog would not be left alone in our room. When I explained that she would be left alone only long enough for us to go to dinner they acquiesced, but informed us that we would be called if she got noisy. Also, the form said that when we were accompanied by our dog, we had to enter and leave the building by the side door during breakfast hours. Understandable, but I found the attitude to not be really pet friendly and more 'pet tolerated.'
