Pet Reservations

On most Aeromexico flights, 6 pets are allowed in the cabin and hold. To find out details about your aircraft and to guarantee Fido a spot, you can contact the Customer Service Team at 800-237-6639.

Pets in the Cabin

Aeromexico welcomes small cats or dogs to fly in the cabin, as long as the flight is less than 6 hours in length. Each passenger is allowed to bring 1 pet on board with them. If you're traveling with Fido, you need to make sure they are nice and clean before flying. During the entire flight, they need to remain in their carrier. As a general rule, dogs younger than sixteen weeks are not permitted to travel with Aeromexico. The maximum weight for flying in the cabin on some flights is 15 lbs (7 kg), and other flights is 20 lbs (9 kg). The pet fee for domestic travel in Mexico is 1000 MXN. For travellers to USA, Canada, Central and South America, the fee is $125.

Pets in Checked Baggage

Larger pets are not accepted as checked baggage with Aeromexico, but they can travel as cargo in the hold.

Pets in Cargo

Pets who exceed the weight limits to travel in the cabin are permitted to travel in the hold with Aeromexico. For traveling in the hold, the combined weight of your pet and carrier should not exceed 99 lbs (45 kg). The cost of this service is assessed by weight, volume, and route. Pets traveling in the hold will be handled by Aeromexico Cargo. You'll need to drop Fido off at one of the cargo locations near airports three hours before the departure time. Aeromexico wants to provide them with the most comfortable journey, so they may be transported in the hold of a different aircraft heading to the same destination. You can contact them directly for more details at (800) 368-4226.

Carrier Guidelines

For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers must be hard or soft plastic or certain bags, as long as the dog can turn around and lay down naturally. The maximum dimensions for carriers on E145 aircraft are 16" x 12" x 7" (40 cm x 30 cm x 18 cm). All other aircraft have maximum carrier dimensions of 19" x 12" x 10" (48 cm x 30 cm x 25 cm). Carriers may be hard or soft plastic, with a single-piece interior base that is absorbent with well-ventilated sides. They must have food and water dispensers attached to the inside, and be labeled with Fido's details on the outside. The carrier should have enough space for pets to sit, stand, turn around, and lie down in a comfortable position. Foldable carriers and carriers with cracks in them are not allowed in the hold. The maximum dimensions for carriers on E145 aircraft are 38" x 32" x 30" (95 cm x 80 cm x 75 cm). For pets traveling on E170 / E175 / E190 / B737 aircraft, the maximum dimensions for carriers are 40" x 36" x 32" (100 cm x 90 cm x 80 cm). For pets traveling on B777 / B787 aircraft, the maximum dimensions are 48" x 44" x 36" (120 cm x 110 cm x 90 cm).

Other Restrictions

Snub-nosed pets are not permitted to fly with Aermexico in the cabin due to possible breathing difficulties that may occur. This type of pet can be transported through Aeromexico Cargo instead.
