Air Transat requests that you reserve Fido's spot on board at least 3 days prior to departure to ensure that the maximum number of pets hasn't been reached. You can do this by contacting them via telephone at (877) 872-6728. Passengers will be charged an additional $30 CAD fee to cover costs of inspection.
Pets in the Cabin
Air Transat welcomes pets who weigh less than 22lbs (10kg) to join their owners if they are stored underneath the seat in front in a carrier. Fees for this service are $90 CAD each way to and from Europe, $50 CAD each way to and from U.S., and $50 CAD to and from Europe. There is also a $30 CAD fee for entry into Canada.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Cats and dogs can travel as checked baggage in the cargo hold of Air Transat flights if the combined weight of the pet and carrier does not exceed 70 lbs (32 kg). If Fido exceeds this limit, you should contact Air Transat via telephone at (877) 872-6728 to confirm they'll be allowed on board. The fee for transporting pets as checked baggage is $275 CAD to/from Europe; $150 CAD to/from South/U.S.; and $75 CAD on domestic flights within Canada.
Pets in Cargo
Animals who exceed the limitations of traveling as checked baggage may qualify for transport as cargo through Leisure Cargo instead. You can contact Air Transat at (877) 872-6728 to find out more information about your local office.
For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers should not exceed 8.5" x 16" x 17.5" (21.5 cm x 40 cm x 45 cm). The carrier must be leak-proof, well ventilated and soft-sided. A hard-sided carrier or any other type of bag is not permitted. For pets traveling as checked baggage, carriers should not exceed 49" x 32" x 36" (123 cm x 81 cm x 90 cm). They should be properly ventilated and provide enough space for Fido to stand up straight-legged, turn around, and lie down inside.
Air Transat does not allow the following breeds of animals to travel on board: Pit Bulls, American Staffordshire Terrier, Boerbull, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Mastiff, and Tosa. When accompanied by certification and documentation and travelling with a person with a disability, emotional support and certified service dogs are welcome in the passenger cabin of Air Transat aircraft.
