Passengers are allowed to bring 1 carrier on board as part of their carry on allowance. A maximum of 5 carriers are allowed in the cabin with Canadian North. You should contact the Customer Service Team at 800 661-1505 to guarantee Fido a spot on board.
Pets in the Cabin
Small dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, hedgehogs, and chinchillas can travel in the cabin with Canadian North. Animals must be harmless, inoffensive, odorless, and require no attention during transit to qualify for travel. They must remain inside their carrier underneath the seat in front of you for the duration of your journey. You can carry 2 dogs or 2 cats in the same carrier if they are between 8 weeks and 6 months. There must be enough room for animals to move around together inside. Multiple compatible birds of any age may fly together provided there is adequate room for them to move around inside. The pet fee for animals traveling in the cabin is $50 each way.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Larger animals can travel as checked baggage with Canadian North if the combined weight of the pet and carrier does not exceed 182 lbs (83 kg). The fee for animals being transported as checked baggage is $100 for pets weighing up to 70 lbs (32 kg) in small and medium carriers; $135 for pets weighing up to 100 lbs (45 kg) in large carriers; and $225 for pets weighing up to 182 lbs (83 kg) in large carriers over 100 lbs.
For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers must not exceed the dimensions of 9” x 16” x 22.5” (23 cm x 41 cm x 57 cm). They must have good ventilation on at least 2 sides and a leak-proof bottom. Hard-sided plastic and soft-sided carriers are permitted. Cardboard boxes are not allowed. For pets traveling as checked baggage, carriers should not exceed the following dimensions: small carriers: 21" x 16" x 15" (53 cm x 40 cm x 38 cm); medium carriers: 32" x 23" x 24" (81 cm x 58 cm x 61 cm); and large carriers: 40" x 27" x 30" (102 cm x 69 cm x 76 cm). They must be leak and escape-proof and sturdy. Animals must be able to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably inside the carrier.
