Pets in the Cabin
Your pet can travel with you in the cabin if the combined weight of the animal and carrier does not exceed 17 lbs (8 kg). Only 1 pet is allowed in each carrier and each passenger is permitted to bring 1 carrier on board. Animals weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) are charged the usual excess baggage fee, except on flights to/from Canada and the USA where the fee is 150% of the excess baggage fee. This fee is between $30-300 depending on the destination of your travel.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Pets who exceed the maximum weight to travel in the cabin may be accepted for transport as checked baggage instead. The maximum combined weight of animals and their carriers in the hold is 99 lbs (45 kg). Animals weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) are charged the usual excess baggage fee, except on flights to/from Canada and the USA where the fee is 1.5 x the excess baggage fee. Animals weighing between 50-70 lbs (23-32kg) will be charged at 1.5 x the excess baggage fee, except to/from Canada and the USA where the fee is twice the excess baggage fee. Animals weighing between 70-99 lbs (32-45 kg) will be charged twice the excess baggage fee, except to/from Canada and the USA where the fee is 3 x the excess baggage.
Pets in Cargo
Pets who exceed the 99 lbs (45 kg) to travel in the hold may be transported as cargo instead. You can contact the New York Office of Egyptair Cargo Department via telephone at 212-581-5600 to find out more information.
For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers should not exceed the dimensions of 21" x 16" x 8" (55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm). For pets traveling in the hold, carriers should be large enough for the animal to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably inside.
Cats and dogs must be at least 8 weeks old to travel. Animals are not accepted on flights to the United Kingdom, South Africa, Kingdom of Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Republic of Yemen, New Zealand, and Australia and should accepted only as cargo. Pets weighing more than 70 lbs (32 kg) aren't accept on flights to Spain, Tunisia, or Tanzania. Additionally, passengers should be aware that pets will not be accepted as checked baggage on Embraer E170 aircrafts. All passengers traveling with pets via Frankfurt airport with a connection over 3 hours may be charged an extra fee of 300 EUR.
