El Al Israel Airlines
Passengers are responsible for obtaining all of the required certifications at least 2 days before the flight date. You should contact EL AL’s Reservation Team to bring Fido in the passenger cabin. You'll need to tell the representative the weight of the animal, including the carrier and its measurements. You can do this by contacting the team at (800) 223-6700.
Pets in the Cabin
Small dogs, cats, and exotic birds can travel in the cabin if the combined weight of the pet and carrier does not exceed 17 lbs (8 kg). Up to 2 pets can travel in the same carrier if they remain under the combined weight limit. Animals should remain inside their carrier under the seat in front of you throughout the journey. To be accepted on board, animals shouldn't smell bad and should be generally healthy. The fee for this service is $100 each way.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Animals weighing over 17 lbs (8 kg) can be transported as checked baggage in the hold instead. Up to 2 pets weighing less than 30 lbs (14 kg) may be carried in 1 carrier. Up to 3 young animals under 6 months old who were born together can be transported in the same carrier if they each weigh less than 30 lbs (14 kg). Animals weighing more than this must be transported in separate carriers. The fee for this service is $200 for an animal weighing 20-110 lbs (9-50 kg), and $400 for an animal weighing 112-220 lbs (51-100 kg).
Pets in Cargo
You can transport Fido as freight instead with the El Al Cargo Division if the combined weight of the pet and carrier exceeds 220 lbs (100 kg). You can contact the El Al Cargo Team via telephone at (03) 971-6589 for additional information and a list of fees.
For pets traveling in the cabin, carriers should not exceed 16" H x 7.5" W x 15" D (41 cm x 38 cm x 19 cm) in Economy Class and 12" H x 12" W x 7.5" D (30 cm x 30 cm x 19 cm) in Business Class. Carriers can be hard or soft and lined with soft material. They should absorb dampness and be constructed to prevent leakage. For pets traveling in the hold, carriers should be strong enough to prevent escape and keep Fido safe. They must have proper ventilation on 4 sides of the carrier. Additionally, the door must be secured to prevent the animal escaping.
Emotional support dogs are only permitted on flights to/from USA.
