Pets in the Cabin
Unfortunately, pets are not permitted to travel in the cabin with their owners.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Small dogs, cats, and birds may be accepted for transport as checked baggage on some flights with Japan Transocean. Passengers traveling with pets as checked baggage will be charged an excess baggage fee.
Pets in Cargo
Animals are permitted to travel on domestic and international flights as cargo if they meet the necessary requirements. You can contact the Cargo Department directly at (800) 525-3663 to arrange Fido's transport.
Carrier Guidelines
For pets traveling as cargo, carriers must be large enough for the animal to stand up, lie down, and turn around. They must be constructed of durable plastic, fiberglass, wood or material of similar strength, and be leak proof. Carriers must have proper ventilation, be lockable, and escape-proof.
Other Restrictions
The following 21 dog breeds are not accepted during summer: Affenpinscher, Bordeaux Mastiff Boston terrier, Boxer, Brussels Griffon, Bull terrier, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chin, Chow chow
Italian Corso dog King Charles Spaniel, Lhasa Apso, Mastiff, Pekingese, Perro de Presa Canario, Pit Bull Terrier, Pug, Shar Pei, Shih Tzu, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and Tibetan Prayer Dog. Additionally, Bulldogs and French Bulldogs are not accepted in the cargo hold. The following breeds must always be transported in sturdy metal carriers: Boxer, Doberman, Great Dane, Japanese Akita, Japanese Kishu, Japanese Tosa, Shepherd, and St. Bernard.
