Pets in the Cabin
Sun Express welcomes 1 cat or dog into the cabin per passenger. Pets and carriers must have a combined weight under 17 lbs (8 kg). For the duration of the flight, animals should stay on the floor in their locked carrier. The cost for this service is 20 EUR for 1-way flights and 40 EUR for return flights. If you're traveling on a domestic flight, the cost is 60 TL for 1-way. Additionally, owners of budgerigars will be pleased to know that they can transport them in the cabin on domestic flights at a cost of 40 TL for a 1-way flight.
Pets in Checked Baggage
Dogs and cats who exceed the maximum weight limit to travel in the cabin can be transported in the hold instead. The costs for pets in the hold are 75 Eur for one-way flights and 150 EUR for return flights. Domestic flights are more affordable, and the cost is just 160 TL for a one-way flight. For pets traveling in the cabin, the size of the lockable carrier must not exceed the dimensions for hand baggage of 21" L x 15" W x 21" H (55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm). For pets traveling in the hold, carriers must not exceed the height of 33" (85 cm). They must allow air to circulate, be waterproof, and escape-proof. They need to allow pets to travel comfortably, turn around, and lie down inside.
The following breeds of dog will not be allowed to travel due to restrictions: Pitbull Terrier, American Pitbull, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bullterrier, Bullterrier, American Bulldog, Dogo Argentino, Fila, Brasiliero, Kangal (Karabash), Kaukasian Owtscharka, Mastiff, and the Mastino Napoleta. Emotional support dogs that are certified as ‘emotional dog’, are transported in the passenger cabin or in the cargo hold (AVIH) for free. Emotional support dogs can travel in the cabin without a carrier, but it is the responsibility of the passenger to present rabies vaccination report, passport and other vaccination documents, if any, as well as the permit certificate obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs if it is a Turkey originated dog or all other documents related to the destination country.
