Perfect for dogs!
Super 8 by Wyndham CodyWe loved staying here so much! Behind the property there is a steep steep hill, and the caretakers of this property carefully cut a trail through the sagebrush and put up solar lights so you can walk your dog on the hillside night and day, with a view of Hart Mountain. There is also a gravel pathway lined with grass across the entire back. The owners care for this property really well, and it is not just a standard cookie cutter Super 8. We would stay here again!
Not great
Motel 6 Bozeman MTThis was my last stop on a cross country trip where I stayed in lots of different hotels/motels for less than $150/night. This was both the most expensive (probably because Bozeman is expensive) and the worst. The hallways smell like air freshener and smoke, the rooms are very run down, the dog area is small, and there were even holes in the towels. It had a door we could lock and a bed, and we slept the night through and left first thing, so it served its purpose. I wouldn’t do it again though if I have other options.
Great place to stay
Days Inn by Wyndham SpearfishWe stayed here while driving across he country. The rooms have both a door to the parking lot, and a door to the inner hallway where you access the breakfast area/lobby, etc. The outside door is so helpful for potty breaks! Only a little bit of grass, but no problem for us since there’s lots of hiking in the area and we aren’t there to hang at the hotel, only to sleep. The room was clean and quiet. Would stay again if passing through.
Clean & quiet
Comfort Inn Sioux City SouthWe had a quiet stay when passing through driving across country. Not a lot of grass, but a park is only about 4 minutes away, so no problem! The room was clean and quiet. Not at all fancy, but all we need is somewhere clean, quiet, and safe to sleep on our way through. This was perfect for us!
Very quiet!
Holiday Inn Express Le Roy IL an IHG HotelThis hotel was so quiet! We slept really well as a result. The breakfast is pretty good, the rooms were clean, and the staff was nice. Definitely recommend if you need a place to stay when you’re passing through.
Good beer but mediocre vibe
Broken Compass Brewery Taproomnice outdoor space. while we always appreciate super dog friendly places like this one, when we stopped by on a Sunday afternoon, children were running around unsupervised and were fairly disruptive. at one point three children had an 8 week old husky on a leash and were running around between outdoor tables with loud voices and large gestures. this was too much chaos for our well -behaved 1yo Australian shepherd (and, to be honest, us as well).
Nice outdoor space
Cool River Coffee Housewe sat at tables in a shaded grassy area. my husband went inside to order (it is counter service). not sure if you’d be able to bring your dog in to order if you are going solo. food/coffee is fine.
Easy access to outside grass
Castle Rock Inn & Suitesthis is a fine place to stay the night when traveling through on a road trip. be advised there aren’t many options for exercising your dog in this tiny town, as there aren’t many sidewalks. strongly recommend finding a hiking trail before you stop for the night. also - not much food around and everything closes by 9.
bed was comfy, we had a room on the ground floor right by the back door, grass was nice by the hotel, and it was quiet. one less bone because no easy place to exercise dog.
Difficult with dog
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Breckenridgewe were given an 8th floor room. to get there, you have to take an elevator (that is NOT a smooth ride, so an anxious dog or inexperienced dog may be stressed by this) to the 6th floor, and then walk down a dingy hallway with several turns and get on a second elevator to get to the 8th floor. it is then a big trek to get back outside. when you FINALLY get outside, there is not a place to potty - you have to go across the street to some random strip of grass by the road. the hotel is also crowded with people, and my sweet Australian shepherd was very stressed out when children came running full speed from around a corner in a narrow hallway. she barked and scared them, but it was because they scared HER! obviously we control our dog and don’t let her lunge at children, but the complete lack of sensitivity of these and other guests left us very excited to leave this hotel. in the future we will be in an Airbnb or even a campsite if we return to Breck.
also, the pet fee is $60. this seems unreasonable given the lack of dog friendly features like access to stairs instead of elevators, a room on a lower floor when you book with dogs, easier access to get outside, and a place to potty once outside.
as an aside, parking is a nightmare here. tiny expensive parking garage that runs out of spaces.
avoid if possible, especially if you have a medium to large higher energy breed, or younger puppy.
Nice location, nice hotel
The Wildwood HotelNice hotel. It is towards the back of a new, clean, nicely landscaped shopping center. Outside the back door there are trash cans/poop bags and some grass (not fenced in). Sidewalks in the area are nice, with lots of trash cans on corners. they put us on the first floor, and it was a quick walk down one flight of stairs to get outside. Near Starbucks and other restaurants for humans, and about a five minute walk to Treats Unleashed for doggies! Treats Unleashed is a family owned business with treats, a dog bakery, and grooming services. Will definitely stay here again if in the area.
Friendly service
Green Bird Organic Cellars & Farmnice friendly service at a rustic, off the beaten track winery. Note that like at many Michigan wineries, dogs cannot be on any patio, but in designated pet areas. The pet area at Green Bird consists of 2 or 3 picnics tables in the grass, and since there aren’t umbrellas it could probably get pretty hot around mid day.
